Most people here know absolutely nothing about what they're talking about.
In the ultra high end space (LGA 2011), Intel wins hands down. No competition.
In the high end space, Intel would still win due to having better power consumption, less heat and better single threaded performance. (4770K vs 9590)
In the mid-range space, it really depends on what you're doing. If you're working with sufficiently threaded software the 8320 will cream the 3570K for $80 less, but if it isn't as heavily threaded the 3570K or even 3350P, etc. would come out on top.
Low end the 6300 creams the i3 and the 750K creams the Pentium. Absolutely no competition there.
As for some of the above posts, clock speed means nothing when comparing processors, nor does blind brand loyalty (GO INTEL! or GO AMD!)
