A quick #partnerslovestory - i'd just like to say thanks to +Elizabeth Knights-Ward, +Caroline Halpin and the rest of the Google team for the hospitality (and cake!) yesterday at the Partners lunch meeting. Very much worth the trip up from Dorset!

Hi all, I'm interested in helping with anything to do with re-branding and promoting an updated Weymouth, and am currently toying with some half-formed ideas towards that goal.

One idea I had to kick off with is to see if we could get Weymouth a new twin town, but make it somewhere really unusual. I found a list of towns around the world with stupid names and thought it would be fun to try and get one of those to be our new twin town.

I should say I don't really know anything about how towns get twinned, I guess we'd need to petition the council or something, but I think maybe it's something that if we did it would get some press attention and give us a platform to promote the Weyforward project.

When I was telling this idea to Baron, he mentioned the town of Boring in Oregon recently twinned with Dull in Scotland, and if you Google that story it has articles on the BBC, Time magazine, the Telegraph, just about every famous news source.

I emailed the mayor of Brilliant in Alabama this afternoon, just speculatively, don't know if he'll reply. Think it would be nice to see that on road signs as you drive into Weymouth (if he doesn't get back to me I'll have to contact Poopoo, Hawaii).
