Ate at the Captain's Ketch last night and then spent the remaining hours in the evening and up til 7am this morning in the ER with the worst bout of food poisoning imaginable. It would be a good atmosphere if not for the blaring pop music. Would have ignored that and wrote a good review if i did not have to spend the rest of the night in the hospital from dining there.

It has a nice environment and is affordable but isn't the underlying purpose of a restaurant to serve good food??? I ordered the Red Snapper and it was AWEFUL! It was the most tasteless and plain meal I have ever had. I would not recommend Captains Ketch to anyone who was a friend! This is the worst meal I have had in New York. A subway sandwich has more flavor.

nice location, good athmosphere but nothing special special. Has food and drinks, but most of them are not listed on the menue... So be lucky to choose or to ask until you know all you knew before :) Had lobster raviolie, very tasty. The vodka orange was not strong at all. Entree is around 20 USD.

i would have eaten here if I could have. I have a few dietary restrictions, and when I told them to the waitress she essentially freaked out and called over the manager. The manageer was no more helpful...I even gave him specific questions to ask the kitchen, yet he seemed hesitant to do so, solely based on the fact that i was allergic to seemed to be too much of a burden for him. In the end, he basically said he couldn't serve me because he didn't want to take that much of a risk. From the point of view of a person with food allergies, this isn't alright. You are supposed to try and accomodate them, not resign and not even ask the kitchen questions about the allergies...It seemed like an okay place. That being said the crowd is old, like, REALLY old...lots of over 50s here.

Restaurants... sometimes you get good food, and sometimes you get good service... it is a pleasant surprise when you get both, and that was my experience at The Ketch Restaurant last night. The service was excellent, and the food was even better... Ahi Tuna and Spinach Salad, the favor combinations were amazing, and the portions were very generous. The Ketch has classic, modern decor, and looks to be newly renovated. It is located on Pearl and Pine Streets, between Wall Street and the South Street Seaport.

I order dinner from restaurants in downtown almost every night and can honestly say that Ketch has the best service. They are always prompt and willing to accomodate any changes/requests. Their salads are really good, fresh greens and a wide array of dressings. A must try in downtown.
