The Science Fiction Writers of America ( +SFWA ) has recently come to the decision to allow for membership for game writers. SFWA is a long-standing speculative fiction organization, with a great deal of experience with the publishing world. They do some great work to encourage fair treatment of writers, and offer other benefits to their members.

In recognition for this decision, Genesis of Legend Publishing will seek to become a SFWA Qualified Professional Market. As part of our commitment to do so, and our own principles, we are raising our minimum pay rates for freelance writing going forward, including all current contracts. We had traditionally established a minimum pay rate of 5c/USD a word, and will be raising that to 6c USD per world going forward.

GenCon 2015 was an absolute whirlwind. I ran a metric ton of games of Spark, played a few extra games on the side, and worked our little IGDN booth to fill the time. That is to say, it was a rather intense experience with relatively little breathing room.

Somehow I came away from the convention with an award for my little game Posthuman Pathways. That's a thing.

Hey Folks,

I’m currently Kickstarting a new roleplaying game: Posthuman Pathways and I thought you might want to know about it.

Posthuman Pathways is a single-session RPG, focussed on Transhumanism and the idea that technology will alter us at a fundamental level. As the world evolves and transforms, you are asked to choose between the various aspects that drive you. This game has a collaborative world-building system like Spark, but this one takes place throughout the session. Each scene ends with a looming question about the changing world, and the following scene is established based on your answers.Your characters live their lives in the shadow of these looming answers.

Unlike Spark, this is a big game in a very small package. The whole game fits in an envelope, with no preparation required and a pretty low price.

Please take a look and spread the word if this intrigues you.

Cheers!
-Jason

Spark RPG; it's a game about collaborative world building. You can work with your friends to create vibrant and evocative worlds, filled with conflicting factions and deep-seated Beliefs.

If this sounds interesting, please feel free to take a look. Anyone backing the project at $10 or more gets full access to the 33K long professionally edited draft.

Cheers!

A good editor is worth his or her weight in gold. I started off announcing David A. Hill Jr. as my developmental editor for Spark on my site.

Over the past few weeks, David has been posting about the editing process using Spark as a case study. These posts are fascinating and certainly worth a look.
