The experience was just OK! This a GREAT concept but I think this location dropped the ball. It was a little outdated and could use some touches to make it a little more modern. The menus were worn and there were brooms and miscellaneous things lining the walls of the hallway. The chairs were very uncomfortable and service was mediocre. This was our first and possibly last visit.

Office chairs. After spending all day at work, I dont want to spend $40 dollars on a usual movie experience plus $60 on a normal dinner experience, all in an office chair. I dont know what idiot decided that was the one thing to cheap out on, but they screwed up. Go to easton for dinner movies instead.

So we all know if you're paying to watch something you're paying an arm and a leg now-a-days. And the food at most place are not worth the high prices *cough AMC cough.) However, the Movie tavern (in Columbus) is worth every penny! I have seen numerous showings there and each time I am more than satisfied. The food is wonderful and worth every penny. It is very clean and the workers are friendly! Beside the food, the staff there is one of the main reason I keep on coming back. Even though the might be swamp on opening weekend/ or a full house. They are always nice, and its great to know that the staff will awesome be awesome every time I go there 9.5/10 I go there (compare to other places like AMC) to watch a movie (either with my mom or my friend). Everything about the place that i love. I could give it more stars, if it wasn't only 5/ Anyways keep up th great work :)

July 18,2015 This was supposed to be a girls night out with my mom and 9 year old daughter and it was horrible ...everything was fine until we got seated, we sat and waited for a good 20 min for our server to come, and when she did she was rude and acted as though we where an inconvience to her. After we placed our orders she also informs us that the popcorn machine was broken ... it's a movie theater ... I understand things happen but why is there no back up ?..... our food came and we had yet to get our drinks, 30 min after out food came and I was more than half way done with my meal I asked our server Ashley if we could get our drinks and instead of apologizng she just said ya and it took an additional 15 min for our drinks to finally arrive we had to ask a food runner to get my daughter's drink because it still didn't come.. after I asked Ashley for our drinks she never came to check on us to see if we needed anything or even if we got our drinks or needed refills, didn't clear anything, made no attemps to better serve us .... the people in our row all got thier drinks in a reasonable time and got there after us .... we come here often since we live close but after this kind of rude service I think we may just take our business somewhere else ..... I felt so bad for my daughter that she had to sit there and waite to eat because she had no drink and her food got cold .... I'm so beyond upset to pay that much and be treated this way that I will be telling everyone I know about our experiance and just how much of an inconvience we where to our server .

Lived in Hilliard for 4 years and came to really love this place. I'd give it 4.5 stars but Google doesn't let me. I'll break it down: The Good - The overall experience is just great and convenient. This was my go-to place if I had a last minute urge to grab a bite to eat and thought "hey, why don't I just catch a movie too?" I go to AMC/Regal theaters with friends but Movie Tavern when it's just me. - I personally found a dish there that I am over the moon about: the chicken finger basket. Whatever breading they use is delicious and the seasoning on their fries is also sublime. It's all pub-style food, so don't expect culinary miracles, but if you find a go-to dish I think you'll crave it and the quality of that dish will be consistent. - Good audio and visual for a non-mammoth theater chain - Their Retro-cinema series is a nice perk for catching a favorite on the big screen. - The chairs are not uncomfortable. They are office chairs and I like being able to move about and turn and adjust a little. - I prefer this theater model in terms of pricing. I'd much rather pay a reasonable ticket price and spend the bulk of my money on a slightly over-priced dinner if it means the theater itself reaps the rewards of the latter. When I go to AMC, I know the theater sees very little payback from the price of the ticket, which goes to the movie studio, and then I'm reluctant to support the theater itself (which gets most of its money from the concession stand food) because then I'm dropping nearly $25 on a movie I could watch for a couple bucks at home from Redbox. The Bad - Sometimes you can get a dodgy chair that squeaks every time you move - The floors are a bit sticky (no 3-second rule application if you drop a fry...just leave it!). The tables are clean but you can just tell that lots of people have eaten there and been a bit messy about it. Like moving into a 15 year old apartment where you can just tell you are living in someone else's old space. In general it is clean but could use a refurbishment - which I won't favor because I know that would mean the prices on everything would double. - They recently narrowed their viewing hours. No matinee showings on weekdays. It's a bummer but I suspect those showings weren't attended well enough to justify keeping the place open. If it keeps the theater in business, I support the move. - Smaller theater. A number of times I've wanted to go there but they weren't showing what I wanted to see. *shrug* C'est la vie. I'm moving to Atlanta in a couple months and one of the first things I did was cross my fingers and hope that there was a movie tavern nearby. I'm in luck! Now let's just hope that location has a comparable experience.

Sticky floors and the chairs are super uncomfortable. But DAMN that ultimate cookie is delicious.

Because of the "liquor license" you can not drop children under the age of 18 off to watch a movie - regardless of the rating (including G). This means that while an 18 year old can't drink, they can pay for another ticket to pad the Movie Tavern's bottom line. The manager was unwilling to make up for the experience, quoting more than once that "Those are the policies." This individual lost my family and I's business permanently, and I will be sharing my experience to dissuade others from partaking in the Movie Tavern's business. Congratulations Movie Tavern Manager, I hope the 2$ was worth it.
