At Black Forest Inn with Lily! We got a table for two outside next to the water fountain, and then ate the best beef stroganoff I have ever had.

Sometimes, all you really need is a 'kill' command.

See, what I love is the fact that I didn't need to qualify my statement within a context, and anyone reading it can define it in theirs. I was talking about it from a Unix/Linux 'process kill' context, but same diff ;-)

My musing for the day:
On a long enough timeline, constant change can change constants.

Discuss.

Matt: yes, I think so. Take even basic things like compass readings. The earth's magnetic field is known to have shifted between poles several times in its history. This one thing would have made things like navigation a complete mess (at best). Or take the speed of light, which einstein himself questioned the "constance" of even during his own time. I think the real lesson here is that at our science is based on a lot more "educated guesses" than we are led to believe in our highb school science classes.

Andy: not that I saw, but I didn't look around, as I did the get-in-order-pay-get-out thing.. I think I was in the building for like 5 minutes tops. It is sort of like a deli that way. And the guy behind the counter was wearing a Beastie Boys shirt from a record that I'm pretty sure is older than he is.

As for the RAM I got, now with our entire live set loaded in reaper at once, and without disabling any windows services, my computer has ~5GB RAM free! I will take that :)

I'm trying out G+ on my daughter's tablet PC. My work recycled a perfectly decent 6 year old IBM tablet PC (x41) which i managed to get my paws on. What emerged from that is a wonderful device: a fully google-integrated linux (Edubuntu) tablet PC paired with my android phone. If this thing had a web cam on it i'd go as far as to call the combo (linux tablet+android phone) the ideal Google "stack", since it can accept pretty much any mode of input, output pretty much any sort of media, has built in support for pretty much any modern device, can get on the internet from pretty much anywhere, and is based entirely on FREE AND OPEN SOURCE software.
Yay for technology!

PS: Guess what: Lily (my 3 year old) TOTALLY LOVES IT :)

Metro really is the best place around to buy pro audio gear. They go WAY out of their way, even on small orders, and make every customer feel like they are important. A lot of people keep saying "buy local", but Metro SHOWS you why. Kudos to them for doing business the right way and providing essential equipment and great customer service to the local audio and video pros who depend on it.
