This is one of the best meals I've had in New York, completely regardless of price (though it is also one of the best values - you can spend under $75 for two steaks and two sides). I cannot recommend St. Anselm's highly enough.

My girlfriend and I went there after reading the reviews, and the place was good but it wasn't anything special.we had the avocado and shrimp for the appetizer and while delicious it was way too small. You can't charge $10 and give someone half an avocado with a couple shrimps. She had the veal and was happy with it.I had the butchers steak, and while it was good it really wasn't worth the hour and a half wait it took for us to get our seats. The place isn't bad, but for the price and the wait, theres better out there.

My teenage Daughter and I (confirmed steak connoisseurs) went to St. Anselm yesterday for the first time and we were very impressed with the steak and service. The hanger steak was excellent and definitely deserved it's ranking as one of the top 50 steaks in America. The waiter was knowledgeable, witty and attentive.The decor is confusing (reason for the 4 star rating) but the restaurant is clean and well kept. Definitely a must visit for the steak enthusiast!

Decent steaks, good sides, and good desserts. Meat-wise, not as good of a selection as an actual steakhouse. Unfortunately small and crowded with a long wait. Service was mediocre, and they were not very accommodating of a large group.

St. Anslem is a cute little spot with a steak house kind of menu. Perfect for a dinner with friends or a date night. Generally busy no matter the night, so try to get there earlier or later in the evening. Don't miss out on the pan-fried mashed potatoes.

Hearing the chatter about this place and how it compares to the well known Steakhouses in NYC definitely peaked our interest. I have walked by this restaurant many a time during brunch and dinner hours, never fails to have a long line. We had walked in the other day, post rainfall to a surprise that we were seated within minutes. Ambiance of this location has reminiscence of that old beer hall / grimy Williamsburg type of charm. The menu had both seafood and meat selections at decent prices. We had ordered grilled clams as an appetizer, served soaked in a lemon garlic sauce with a side of warm bread. For my main course I went with the "Saddle" Lamb cooked medium rare... about 22oz of premium cut. Despite the 45min wait for the entree (expect 30-45min for lamb and steak)... it was one of the best tasting and by far one of the best prepared lamb. This cut, virtually zero fat and every piece was surely tasted. As for dessert, we went with the chocolate-salted caramel spread. This served in a mason jar with house made whip cream on top. AMAZING. I strongly recommend this place if you are ever in Williamsburg.

Came for Sunday dinner at 8 pm. The wait took about an hour and half for a party of eight. The vibe here is very relaxed and bar-like. Service is very friendly, efficient, and attentive. We stayed until around midnight, and the staff never rushed us once. The food is absolutely worth the wait. Their axe handle rib eye is absolutely delicious, as is their hanger steak. Both of which are also very reasonably priced ($16 for the hanger steak). Highly recommend their pan fried potato and peach prosciutto. Tip: you can go to the bar next door during your wait and bring your unfinished drinks to the restaurant through their shared backyard.
