72 hour New York City weekend adventure (23-26 October 2015).  Got a lot in...stayed next to Times Square, got to a NY Islanders game, Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial, Central Park, Wall St, Empire State Building, "Book of Mormon" show on Broadway, and a New York Rangers game to finish it off. #nyc #72hoursinnyc

In and out over the weekend to see the LA Kings and NY Rangers face off for game 2 of the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Final.  First time attending the finals...crossing it off the bucket list of something I've wanted to see.  Hopefully, our Dallas Stars are on a path now to get there in the near future.  #22HoursInLA #BecauseItsTheCup #GoKingsGo

72 hours in New York City (23-26 October 2015) .  Stayed in Times Square, saw 2 NHL games (Bruins @ Islanders, Flames @ Rangers), attended 1 Broadways show ("Book of Mormon"), and seeing as much of the sites as I could.

I was visiting Austin for a week for a conference and bought a week pass here. I always like training at more serious and hardcore gyms, even when I travel. Although to many newbie lifters, hardcore gyms can seem intimidating, if you come in to do work, these are really great atmospheres where members get to know each other and support each other regardless of goal (just get in shape, lose some pounds, or something more extreme like competitive powerlifting or bodybuilding). The gym is an old school facility. Much of the equipment could be in a fitness museum. Belts, chalk, lots of racks and platforms, 1980s era bodybuilding posters from local shows give it an old school vibe. However, it is kept clean, which is not always the case at some old school gyms. Solid gym.

I flew into LAX for a very brief visit to go to the Stanley Cup Final game between LA and NY. I had the misfortune of renting a car here. First off, when I walked into the place, there was a very long line with a couple of people appearing to be covering their nose. It was quickly apparent why -- the place stunk from something that I imagined to be like the smell of wet hockey gear being stored in a port-o-potty left in a hot Texas field on a July afternoon. Aside from needing a lot of potpourri, the place was dark, dingy, and dirty. Although there are 20 terminals to serve people, only 3 people were working on a busy Saturday morning. There were 3 other workers there who largely wandered around doing nothing. The line took exceeding long as the agents pushed the usual gas and insurance options with some people taking 20 minutes to complete their reservation. If you didn't pre-pay for the gas, I was told I had to bring a credit card receipt to prove I bought gas (apparently, looking at the fuel gauge is not sufficient proof of bringing it back full?). 1 star is generous....there needs to be an option for no stars.
