Isaac Babel, The King, Tales of Odessa. "The wedding ceremony was over and the rabbi lowered himself into an armchair, then he stepped outside and saw the tables set up all along the courtyard. There were so many of them that they stuck their tail right through the gate onto Gospitalnaya street." Supposedly, this is the courtyard described by Babel. We visit it during our Privoz and Moldavanka tour:) #odessa #moldavanka #jewishodessa #isaacbabel #talesofodessa #tour

"..This could be young Charles. He was born in Odessa and spends the first ten years of his life in a yellow-stuccoed palais on the edge of a dusty square fringed with chestnut trees." The Hare with Amber Eyes, Edmund de Whaal
It's not a dusty square anymore, but the mansions and chestnuts are still there:) #odessa #heritage #tour #jewish

So looking forward to spring and summer!!! Although the first day of spring hasn't brought spring weather to Odessa. But we are optimistic! Here's a short video of Odessa in May - love watching it, especially when the weather is nasty:)

A question frequently asked by our tour guests is about the day trips from Odessa. What’s worth seeing in the countryside? How long does it take to travel around Odessa’s region? What is the best itinerary? Drawn on my personal preferences and experience I recommend two trips - to the Akkerman Fortress and Shabo with a stop in Karolino-Bugaz and a trip to the Danube Delta and Vilkovo. More on the topic at http://odessawalks.com/day-trips-from-odessa-aka-odesa-ukraine/ #odessa #odessatour #tripsfromodessa #belgoroddniestrovsky #akkermanfortress #vilkovo #danubedelta

"..Odessa was also a city, which doubled its population of Jews and Greeks and Russians every decade, a polyglot city full of speculation and traders, the docks full of intrigues and spies. A city on the make.." The Hare with Amber Eyes, Edmund de Waal. Awesome description of the 19th century Odessa. The city still bears cosmopolitan traces #odessa #heritage #travel #tour

Odessa in winter is a totally different city. And it's not necessarily covered with snow all the time. The weather varies from -10C to +10C, maybe sunny or rainy, and mostly very humid.. But still there're things to do and ways to enjoy the city off season:)). A few recommendations in our blog http://odessawalks.com/top-5-things-to-do-in-odessa-ukraine-in-winter/ #odessa #winter #travel #tour
