I took the afternoon cruise with my wife on Saturday. I was very displeased with the over all experience. My biggest complaint would have to be with the bar tender. The menu, clearly posted on the wall said a beer was $4.50 but he charged me $6.50 and stuffed the extra $2.00 in his pocket before giving me my change. When I gave him a crossed look he, smiled and said, " Do you want something else." Not wanting to make a scene, I let it go. The sound system on the boat was pathetic. I went to the lower level and only 1 small speaker was working, it was so soft I could barely hear it over the cackling teenage girls sitting in the back. On the upper deck the speakers were distorted and very low volume. the little bit i could hear sounded interesting but overall i think you should invest in a little better equipment for your cruise.

Very disappointed for the price, this cruise is something for people 85 and older. The boat looked like a dreary Mel's diner. The food was cold cuts and potato salad and store bought chocolate chip cookies , the music was some type of swing music from The 1930's. NEVER AGAIN. Not even for free

I took the fireworks cruise on July 3rd to celebrate a friend’s 60th birthday and was shocked at what I experienced! At one point I was even afraid for my safety! The staff on the boat consisted of an elderly captain, one “first mate” and two bartenders (one male, one female). The nightmare started when we first boarded and found it so crowded we could not find empty seats; all five in our group stood the entire cruise, which lasted over three hours. The lower deck was enclosed, making it very hot, unlike the upper deck, which was open. There was no monitoring alcohol intake and MANY people became “falling-down” drunk. People were literally knocking over chairs and garbage cans and falling down steps. Excessive profanity was prominent. The bathrooms had no lights or running water in the sinks. A young couple even used one of them to have sex. There were spilled drinks on the tables and vomit on the lower deck. It was absolutely DISGUSTING!! By the end of the cruise a fight broke out between inebriated guests on the lower deck. During the brawl, tables, chairs and people were knocked over. At this point I felt afraid for my safety because there was absolutely no security on the boat. The young female bartender tried to break up the fight. I never did see the “first mate” during this brawl. There was absolutely no security around and there was nowhere for innocent bystanders to go for safety. Watching these people get into their vehicles afterwards and head out to the roadways in their conditions was the kicker! This was truly a danger to others, many which were headed home from the ballpark with their families! This irresponsible, poorly-managed business is clearly in violation of over-serving alcohol, unsanitary conditions, unsafe environment, over-selling tickets and putting the rest of the community in danger by releasing extremely drunk people to drive! I am working on getting my money back from this nightmare of a “cruise” and do not recommend it to anyone.

Good place for a wedding or a large birthday party. Rent the boat and enjoy a night on the river with 300 or 400 of your close friends.

A group of us went on the "Magical Mystery Cruise" on saturday night for a Bachelorette party. We arrived a half hour before as advised to do and boarded the boat. We were unaware that we could have boarded an hour and a half early. We were stuck inside the "climate controlled" cabin because the top portion of the boat was extremely packed. The indoor section was extremely hot and uncomfortable because your idea of "climate controlled" is one fan. We were unable to hear the band or see any of the sights as we were stuck inside. To make matters worse....about an hour before we arrived back at the dock the septic tanks were completely full and both toilets were overflowing leaving us no way to use the restroom.. I don't blame the five women that got off the boat before it even left the dock. I will not be visiting the River City Star again and I believe that every person on that boat deserves a refund.

Made reservations in advanced, charged to credit card. Showed up only to find out they cancelled the boat and they turned us away stating they would credit the credit card. We'll see. However, there were people as though they were gathering to go on the boat. What's up? Did they cancel the regular trip for a charter instead? One has to wonder??? I do, but who knows. Other than that, Fun Plex, Zoo, Old Market, Pizza Machine, Double Tree, Boat Ride at Heartland Plaza/Lake are met expecatiions
