6/15/15- Wanted to celebrate my daughters birthday at Bogota's on 5th Avenue, not far from Arecibo's office. I made dinner reservations at 6:00pm and called to reserve the car at about 4:00pm to pick me up at 5:30 on Dahill Road in Bklyn. Waited outside of the building with my mom. At 5:40, called to see where the car was. I was told it would be right there. At 5:50, no car. I called again and the phone rang around 10 times. No one picked up. By this point I was fuming. Called again at 5:55, phone rang again 10 times and no one picked up. Walked 6 blocks to the nearest car service to get a car. Needless to say I didn't make it to the restaurant in time while my daughter was waiting there for us for half an hour until we finally arrived. This was the first time I used Arecibo. This was the last time.

These guys are a disaster. Unreliable. Just use Uber x. Called close to 2 hours ago to book a car, told would be 15-20 minutes. After 30 minutes I received a call to say driver had an accident and another car would be 25 minutes. Left on hold for 15 minutes when called. Now the line is just busy. Still no car. I'm now in an Uber on 2x surge pricing in rush hour trying to get home to brooklyn from the city.

I used Arecibo from Park Slope to JFK. After I signed up, the company sent me a $3 coupon off to the airport. The driver was nice enough, the ride okay. When we got to the airport, the driver did not honor the coupon. First tried to tell me it expired Oct. 12 - when it said on it Oct 31. Told me I had to have it printed out when it said right on it - show this coupon on your phone "or" print it out. But, only $3, right? Except the driver then quickly used his phone to run the tab - and he ran the tab for $43. The online quote was $40. So, now this ride was costing $6 more than expected. I signed for it - then handed the driver an $8 cash tip. When I got inside the airport and checked my email, I found that the driver had not only added $3 to the fare - but had given himself a $6.49 tip without asking me. And he accepted the cash, too! What a dodgy deal that was. moral of this tale - expect the ride to cost more than advertised and expect them to tip themselves, so don't bother to give more. And don't sign it until you double check the figure. The print is small.

To begin with, they put you on hold and you are forced to listen standard pre-recorded message saying: "your business is important to us". Well, it is clearly NOT the case because dispatcher promised a car to arrive in 10 minutes. However, after 20 min have passed the promised car was nowhere to be seen and I called again and again, but even when I managed to get through they would repeatedly put me on hold. Needless to say that after almost 30 minutes no car has arrived and I was forced to consider other options. In conclusion, if you want an utterly unreliable car service that treat their customers as if they are doing them a big favor for even answering your phone calls, not to mention providing a car service, then by all means call "Arecibo Car and Limo Service" and experience frustration yourself.

I find Arecibo service 50% of the time reliable and the other 50% they are unreliable so I have to give them one star because when you need a car service you need them to be accountable. I'm trying out other services. I'm looking for more consistency. I also have a pet and when I call I always ask for a driver who like furry friends and sometimes I get sent someone who is allergic, etc which is a major inconvenience to have to wait for another car.

As an English Woman in NYC I found these guys on the net and just hoped all would be OK. They were great. They were on time and very courteous to my family and me and handled the many bags we had with aplomb!

Quick, easy, cheap. Fast. Friendly. If you call they always say "cinco minutos" wherever they are. We joke about it, because they're always here in 5 min. Only way I ever use to airport, because they're reliable (always waiting for me) and as a real estate agent one day I had to go all around lower manhattan when it was raining buckets with a client. 2 hours door to door and wait at each stop $45 + tip. Can't beat that and the client loved the service! I've seen plenty of neighbors frantically calling when their car doesn't arrive and once I give them arecibo's number they are very happy. Indeed, caught one woman crying in Tribeca @ 6 am frantic her car never showed up to get to airport for international flight and another service kept telling her they'd be there. Arecibo-- 5 min. She stopped crying as soon as they arrived.

This car company is the absolute worst and I will not be using the EVER again! I have used them 2-3 times before and except for 1 time they have been late. Not 10-15 mins late which can happen given that this NYC---I am talking regularly 25 minutes or more late. Each time I was told 5-10 wait, and that generally stretched to 30-35 mins. Today was the absolute last straw. I had to cancel plans because the car didn't show up after I waited for like 30 minutes. Due to a tight schedule, couldn't just arrive late--that's why I called for a car an hour before the appointment. Don't waste your money or time, they are completely unreliable.
