Fantastic portions and pricing. Great chicken wings. Kitchen is open till 4am on weekends so the perfect place for snack after some bar-hopping. Great portions for desert, tasty. Small beer list. Good house-made hot sauce. Can't beat Grubstake if you're looking for a good bite late at night.

This is the sort of place you take your out-of-town guests to visit when they are in town. It's authentic, it's open late, and the black bean soup is worth a drive across town. The Portuguese fare is complemented with typical burgers and soups for the more pedestrian tastes, but we recommend letting the kitchen show you what they've got. You'll be impressed.

My favorite "late night" "post clubbing" institution in San Francisco for 19 years. Quirky joint. Love to eat at the counter in the old "streetcar" section. Service is friendly; food is consistently good. Very best coffee in the city after a night of "barhopping".

Solid option if you are staying in the Holiday Inn-- my kids wanted "room service"-- I placed a take out order for 4 and managed to get them fed for under $50.00-- half the price of room service-- food was good, though not exceptional. The folks were super friendlly, but the guy at the bar was sort of dopey-- difficult to get him to get my order down correclty-- which was 2 burgers with fries, 1 turkey club, 1 order of potato skins-- not terribly swift. I would go back again for sure.
