Scarlett Shepard serves as the Institute’s executive director, leading programming and strategic growth, and also overseeing activities such as production, educational initiatives and key national and international partnerships. Shepard was responsible for founding the Women’s Film Institute in 2005. Shepard is an activist, filmmaker and community educator. She graduated from San Francisco State University with a visual arts degree focused on filmmaking. She has produced many films, media arts programs, and cultural events that benefit and enrich the community.
