I am a teacher with the school system in New York. I am an artist, scenic designer, and curator. I have had many exhibitions in different media, particularly painting, sculpture, digital art and photography.
I designed sets and props for many shows for theater and dance companies. I have curated, co-curated, organized and co-organized many exhibitions in New York and around the world. After Art School, my first exhibition as director and co-curator at the Gowanus Memorial Artyard was the Monumental Show, called by Kay Larson on New York Magazine (May, 1981) the "Event of the Season". In recent years concentrated on exibitions with political and social themes, including Art Against War, a show of posters and multimedia of artists reflecting on the war in Iraq. It showed on many websites and eight galleries around the world. I am finishing a doctoral program at Teachers College, Columbia University. My interest is in artist networks, artists' initiatives, non-institutional frameworks of art production and exhibition. I am a director of www.cultureInside.com
, a website that is a social and collaborative network for artists. It is based in Luxembourg. Dominique and Gila Paris and I are organizing a series of exhibitions there, the first one to open on June 25, 2009 called "Rooted" .
