Shout out to Salary.com for mentioning the top 10 networking mistakes. I talk about many of these in ProVoke and in ProVoke Methodology. Being humble and prepared is one of the most important elements of effective networking. It is about the person you are networking with and not about you! Many feel that to attract people into their network circle, they have to come across as highly arrogant. The only things that does is make your network circle very small. Recently someone approached me to network with me and he used the sentence: “yeah, I know that, did that and piece of cake’…very quickly I ended the call realizing that this was not a person I wanted in my network! Networks are 2 way streets: Be polite, attentive, informed and humble! http://www.salary.com/11-networking-mistakes/

We all know that Bezos is not buying the Washington Post to only build an empire (which he already has). Imagine the possibilities if a highly rated/high quality paper such as the Post, starts innovating the digital news world, beyond the digital rags that we are seeing today. Imagine the possibilities! Bezos can disrupt the newspaper world and possibly revive it in a different way that we have ever seen before. What do you think? http://bit.ly/1b856yP

As this article highlights, disagreements are key to spur new thinking and possibilities. However, more often, leaders expect agreement from their staff and while in theory they welcome different thoughts, in reality, there is a lot of peer pressure to agree with leaders… To change the culture of my way or no way! Great leaders hire strong thinkers to change the landscape. Great leaders are far and few between… I for one am constantly searching for wonderful leaders to collaborate with! http://bit.ly/13BJ5Cn

This article took the words out of my mouth. Well said. We need to build a true Culture of Disruption (Big Data) and innovation and not just extract value out of data… let’s start this dialog. http://bit.ly/1bMoqp7

DID YOU KNOW that Kickstarter: http://bit.ly/1dVv9Jd has collected 4.5M pledges, over $715M, by 45,000 people, run by 60 talented people in NY? More importantly, these are pledges, which means that the idea-generators keep all the funds. And, totally multidisciplinary, covering the arts, science, tech and much more?! Check it out. Find a project, get passionate, donate anything starting at $1. Imagine how this kind of crowd-fund-sourcing will change the world! Imagine the millions of ideas that now have a chance to get funded! Imagine the possibilities… Caution: it is addictive: You log on, you will love so many ideas, very hard to stop!

In yoga we learn to replace a NO with 3 different alternatives:

The Universe has 3 answers: Yes, Not yet, or the Universe has something better in mind.

When we answer things in a non-negative manner, our attitude, mindset and the possibilities all change!
