“We wouldn’t like to see trash in our streets or in our house, so why would we want it to be in the sea or lakes? I don’t think it’s different. Every time I see a fish or other sea life entangled in plastic debris, my heart bleeds.” Volunteer Flavio Scotto d’Abusco on why he does #DiveAgainstDebris. Tell us what motivates you to protect the ocean! http://bit.ly/2bldmS6
Flavio Scotto d’Abusco’s story begins with adventure. In 2006, he had been travelling the world with a group of friends by backpack, wandering from county to county booking flights as he went. During a 12-day stop in the Perhentian Islands of Malaysia, Flavio and his friends – avid sportsmen – stumbled upon a dive shop offering scuba lessons.

What will ‪#‎Brexit‬ mean for Europe's seas? Our partner Seas At Risk shares its views: http://bit.ly/2ajsmUb
It’s been a very tempestuous week of political fallout since the UK voted by 52% to leave the European Union in a public vote. Seas At Risk* is determined to continue working with its members inside and outside the UK for a healthy marine environment.

Some sea creatures make homes out of garbage! The debate of whether to remove the debris or leave it may sometimes be a difficult judgment to make! What are your views? Learn more with #DiveAgainstDebris: http://bit.ly/2afyTfT - Photo courtesy of Joakim Odelberg

Biodegradable?
If it doesn't cause harm, then it should be okay if Nature has found a purpose.

Protecting Our Ocean Planet - One Dive at a Time℠
Introduction
Project AWARE Foundation is a growing movement of scuba divers protecting the ocean planet – one dive at a time.

Calling all divers! Join the global movement of divers protecting the Ocean planet. We’re focusing in on two major ocean issues – Sharks in Peril and Marine Debris. Truly, there are many conservation issues converging on our ocean planet at once, but we’re concentrating on these serious problems where scuba divers are uniquely positioned to directly and positively affect real, long-term change in these two areas. If you're interested in taking action to protect the ocean planet - JOIN US!

Project AWARE empowers thousands of divers in more than 180 countries to work together for a clean, healthy and abundant ocean planet. Project AWARE Foundation is a registered non-profit organization.
