Thanxx for such a well written description.  It was a pleasure to read and provided a great context for your fine photograph.  Appreciate that you have not overcooked the image and distorted the Antarctic light.

So many incredible visions in Antartica. This is the ice breaker making its way to McMurdo Station on Ross Island! Once a year an ice breaker makes a path through the ice for the supply ships heading here. They arrive with cargo and leave with all the waste (including human wastie waste! so brilliant) Trey Ratcliff and I were choppered out to Cape Royds and saw this sight! Perfect timing and great surprise. Adelie penguins nest here next to Shackleton's Hut. The sound the ice breaker makes is unbelievable. Like jet engines screaming as it rides up on top of the sea ice then CRASH it breaks through. The whole time the hull of the ice breaker rubbing along the sides against the ice. In this photo you see - a frozen lake and snow. Rock with Adelie Penguins nesting, babies in there too! Completely frozen sea ice (frozen does infer ice, which word to drop?) and... the sky. A storm has rolled in right now as I type and it is colder than minus 10! The snow is tearing out of the sky vertically to the ground and hitting Scott Base. Trey and I are about to head out for a walk and check out Sir Edmund Hillary's original hut he built for polar exploration and great adventure. He is a hero of mine, so very excited! #Peace   #AntarcticaNZ   #Antarctica   #Thankful   #Travel   #adventure   #adventuretravel   #penguins   #newzealand

Every day that passes I am becoming more and more convinced that we need to do everything we can to use alternative technologies and all energy saving means possible. In my professional role, that means use of daylight instead of electrical light and sophisticated controls for more efficient schools, offices and homes.

AirNZ could not come clean for the simple reason that to admit culpability would have voided their insurance and opened the company to claims that might have destroyed it.  Reputations were certainly destroyed.  We live in a complicated and risky world. Risk management is a complicated and expensive business.

General Fuzz has some 12 years worth of terrific ambient tapestries.
I came across his work listening to the entire podcast list from Echoes Radio Station.  His was the very last podcast on the list.  Fuzz'z pieces thoughtfully arranged compositions full of sonic flavours and rythmic grids are a delightful accompaniment to the solitary task of architectural design and drafting.

GeneralFuzz has some half a dozen albums available at no cost to the listener for download and enjoyment at www.generalfuzz.net

Thanks for sharing the fruits of your labour.
