Federal student aid in the for profit sector is generally a "hot button" topic, but Brookings does a good job in analyzing it. http://ow.ly/zuRg307Z26S

Boards of trustees have far more to deal with than they previously did, yet they appear to be stuck in models that hinder their (and their institution's) effectiveness. See KPMG's recent publication on board focus - lot there for NPs and education institutions. http://ow.ly/kd7U307Q6uN

According to SHRM and Don Yaeger, most great teams are connected to a higher purpose, something that many higher ed institutions have forgotten. Shared vision and mission are critical, but most suffer from the SPOTS syndrome (strategic plan on the top shelf (gathering dust)). How many institutions use the strategic planning process to build shared vision and high performing teams THROUGHOUT the institution? Just a thought . . . http://ow.ly/jLj0307gEV8

According to McKinsey research, 4 our of 10 CFOs report spending the majority of their time in areas outside of finance, including strategic leadership, organizational transformation, and performance management. In higher ed, this makes their role even more critical, as their input / decisions affect far more than finance traditional areas, e.g., curricula and quality, and their skills and experience need to be both finance and higher ed specific. http://ow.ly/qu91306YRQF
