I used Goobric for Students with Doctopus this week. I wrote a blog explaining what I learned from my first attempt. You can read about my learning experience at http://goo.gl/deVK9j

I used Goobric for Students. It was not necessarily easy, but it shows potential. One mistake I made was not clicking "Look for new submissions," so not every student had access to the rubric.

Initial observations. Have students write for one period before adding the rubric. The students can access the rubric on the second day.

When peer assessing, it might be best to have students score only one section of the rubric, write a comment and submit. I tried to do 5 sections, write a comment, and submit. That was too much!

Has anyone else tried Goobric for Students? What have you noticed?

Wednesday, August 19 is our First Day of School! This is my letter to my writers who have bloomed, feel wilted, or are still waiting to bloom. This year you will grow. You will bloom. You will become writers. I can't wait to meet you!

2015 Letter to Students
Last spring, my son planted a garden with sunflowers . Three of the four sunflowers bloomed in July, lifting their faces toward the warm sun. They attracted bees that allowed our corn, eggplant, pumpkins and watermelon to flourish. But one sunflower refused...
