Unfortunately, we had to cancel 2 out of the 3 offered pre-conference sightseeing tours due to a lack of participants! Only the CITY WALK will take place! You can still explore Vienna and its surroundings on your own or book a tour at Vienna Tourism yourself.

We've still got plenty of free places at the RISC workshop on Tuesday, Sept 1, 2015! Register now at http://or2015.univie.ac.at/workshops/workshop-registration/

Speakers: Michael Bögl and Roman Stainko
After a brief overview over the RISC Software GmbH we will take a closer look at one of our most popular topics: Individual Production Planning. We will present our established approach to this kind of projects where we tailor individually customized production planning software products for our customers. Individual adaption to the specific production processes and powerful optimization algorithms are some of our keys for success. On the basis of some of our past and current projects we will highlight our lessons learnt and talk about crucial decisions along the way. Does it pay off to develop a own solution engine? Is it advisable to use mathematical optimization? Interesting aspects and noteworthy topics from the corresponding project diaries will complete the presentation.

The Vienna Circle – Exact Thinking in Demented Times
Exhibition at the University of Vienna

The Vienna Circle was an extraordinary association of philosophers, mathematicians, natural scientists and humanists to develop and disseminate an academic world view from 1924 to 1936. This exhibition sheds some light on the extraordinary intellectual and cultural achievements of the Vienna Circle while also focusing on the terrible anti-Semitic and political persecution that finally led to its dissolution. This exhibition displays valuable objects from the collections of scientific archives.

If you're interested in visiting this exhibition, it is open daily Monday - Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00. It's located in the main building of the university, on the left of the main entrance. There will be a special guided tour by Prof. Karl Sigmund (Department of Mathematics, University of Vienna) on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 18:00 for participants of OR2015! Meeting point is at the OR2015 Registration Desk. No extra registration necessary. The Welcome Reception will continue until 21:00 so you are welcome to come back after taking the tour.

For more info about the exhibition, check out their website at http://www.univie.ac.at/exhibitionViennaCircle/exhibitionViennaCircle/
