Before arriving in the Queen City, I spent about 7 years as a reporter and fill-in anchor in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. That’s right, the Deep South! With crawfish, Mardi Gras, and beads everywhere. But it’s also the land of Hurricanes, Oil Spills, and some of the wildest politics you’ll find that side of the Mississippi River. It was a great place to start out as a reporter and in 2011 the Baton Rouge Women in Media honored me as the On Air Personality of the Year.
I made it to Baton Rouge thanks to Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!). LSU is where my love for journalism really took off. While I was still a student, I had the privilege of covering Hurricane Katrina before, during, and after the storm hit. As the news director of the school TV station, I got to look into the impact on the University and surrounding community as the storm devastated and changed the lives of everyone in South Louisiana.
While in school, I interned at in Seattle, Washington, for MTV News in New York City and Baton Rouge, and in my home town of Dallas, Texas.
I’m coming up here with my dog Gatsby! He’s just as excited as I am to get to know Cincinnati. We’re even curious about all this snow we keep hearing about!
I love to volunteer, run, and go on adventures. And I cannot live without live music or sports! I’m an LSU Tiger and Dallas Cowboy fan, but maybe I can make room for a little “Red” in my life.
Thankfully I get to work in a business where there’s a new challenge and a new face to meet every day. The best part of what I do is getting out into the community and working for the people of Cincinnati. Please feel free to email me or "Like" me on Facebook. I’m “Kristy Davis News 5”.
