This casual restaurant, bar, and boat rental facility, located in the heart of Forest Park on Post-Dispatch Lake, is like no other place in St. Louis. In the warm weather enjoy leisurely boat rides, lakeside patio dining, cold drinks, and beautiful sunsets. In the cold weather enjoy indoor dining for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch...or just come and enjoy a glass of wine or a hot chocolate while relaxing around the large stone wood-burning fireplace.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. My boyfriend and I went over to forest park to visit the zoo and see the park. We were excited to see there was a restaurant inside the park so we went to the boathouse restaurant. There is a cool ambiance and the restaurant is right on the water. Right when we got there we waited for nearly 40 minutes, it was a fairly populated restaurant. When we were sat, we where soon greeted by our waitress-- that was about the last we saw of her. She wasn't very friendly but wasn't horrible and we put in our order. We didn't see her again until she brought our food back out. She asked if we would like ketchup and she never ended up bringing it, my boyfriend even tried to call her over but she wouldn't come. So after 15 minutes my boyfriend, very angry by now, went and had to get ketchup from the waitress stand himself. By that time his burger was cold and he only ate half. He loves burgers and says that it was the worst he has had in his life. I got the Santa Fe salad which was okay, I wanted more dressing but again she NEVER came back to check on us. We basically spent our entire meal with no water and no sauce. Would recommend just coming for the paddle boats because that was a blast but skip the food. Mcdonalds has better service and food.

I think this is the best spot for a first date in St. Louis during any time of the year. Paddleboats and Forest Park activities in the summer, and s'mores around a bonfire near Christmas. (Call ahead to make sure they haven't sold out of marshmallows!) Staff is friendly and environment is classy casual.

Bad food. Bad service. Great location that could be an asset to the park if the people that ran it cared.

Had dinner there on an Sunday evening. It was a gorgeous day out, so it was crowded. We didn't get to enjoy dinner outside. My server, Steve, was very friendly and polite. I ordered the fish and chips. It was extremely delicious.

The location is awesome, right in the middle of the park, which why we've been there many times. But location is not everything... We are continually disappointed with the food and it seems to just get worse every time. The menu has never been very broad but yet it has steadily been shrinking over time. After today, I'm sad to say that unless they make changes, we may never go back.

Just three years ago I couldn't have dreamed of giving this place anything less than five stars, but somehow this place has gone from one of the best dining experiences in St. Louis to a shell of its former self that quickly. They have new management and a new head chef who has gutted once fun menu down to sandwiches and fried meat. The pizzas taste like a cross between Digiorno and lunchables and all the appetizers cost the same as an entree. Gone are anything resembling specials, its the SAME menu all year round. All that said, nothing in St. Louis can really beat the atmosphere. The restaurant is situated on one of forest parks more natural looking bodies of water and whether you are sitting outside on a rocking chair in the fall taking in the colors, huddled around the fireplace in winter or using the menu as fan in summer, this place really is something special. You can rent paddle boats or have a drink lakeside. I used to love this place and I still want to but the new owner/manager/chef make it hard. They are cashing in on the scenery and previous reputation while slowly turning what was a restaurant into a bar and grille.

If this were New York, your meal would cost $100. I love this place.

The view and the atmosphere were great, but the wait was extremely long and then the food was really bad. Cold, dry meat on cold bread with cold melted cheese. The fries were the best thing on my plate. I didn't even order the fries, I ordered mac and cheese instead and it never came out! really bad food
