This casual restaurant, bar, and boat rental facility, located in the heart of Forest Park on Post-Dispatch Lake, is like no other place in St. Louis. In the warm weather enjoy leisurely boat rides, lakeside patio dining, cold drinks, and beautiful sunsets. In the cold weather enjoy indoor dining for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch...or just come and enjoy a glass of wine or a hot chocolate while relaxing around the large stone wood-burning fireplace.

I think this is the best spot for a first date in St. Louis during any time of the year. Paddleboats and Forest Park activities in the summer, and s'mores around a bonfire near Christmas. (Call ahead to make sure they haven't sold out of marshmallows!) Staff is friendly and environment is classy casual.

If this were New York, your meal would cost $100. I love this place.

Had dinner there on an Sunday evening. It was a gorgeous day out, so it was crowded. We didn't get to enjoy dinner outside. My server, Steve, was very friendly and polite. I ordered the fish and chips. It was extremely delicious.

The Boathouse is unique (in a good way!). It's setting is great, right by the lake. In the warmer times you can sit outside. and inside in winter they have a real log fire. The food is good - not "fine dining", but all presented well and hot. Most of the staff are really great, although you do have to wait sometimes when they are busy

Just three years ago I couldn't have dreamed of giving this place anything less than five stars, but somehow this place has gone from one of the best dining experiences in St. Louis to a shell of its former self that quickly. They have new management and a new head chef who has gutted once fun menu down to sandwiches and fried meat. The pizzas taste like a cross between Digiorno and lunchables and all the appetizers cost the same as an entree. Gone are anything resembling specials, its the SAME menu all year round. All that said, nothing in St. Louis can really beat the atmosphere. The restaurant is situated on one of forest parks more natural looking bodies of water and whether you are sitting outside on a rocking chair in the fall taking in the colors, huddled around the fireplace in winter or using the menu as fan in summer, this place really is something special. You can rent paddle boats or have a drink lakeside. I used to love this place and I still want to but the new owner/manager/chef make it hard. They are cashing in on the scenery and previous reputation while slowly turning what was a restaurant into a bar and grille.

The view and the atmosphere were great, but the wait was extremely long and then the food was really bad. Cold, dry meat on cold bread with cold melted cheese. The fries were the best thing on my plate. I didn't even order the fries, I ordered mac and cheese instead and it never came out! really bad food

I think the food is garbage. My girlfriend ordered some kind of steak sandwich and got a block of meat with no bread. After an argument with the waiter it still wasn't fixed. My fish was under-cooked. I asked them to just take it away. I was still charged for it. After the fire they changed the menu. It is no longer gluten friendly, not that it was to begin with, really. The place should have just burned to the ground.

Food was HORRIBLE! Our appetizer and entree both came out cold, service was ok, some of the staff was rude and didn't pay much attention to drink refills or checking back on tables after food was dropped off. Food was completely over priced for the quality. bugs were everywhere..... other than the scenery this place is horrible.
