This casual restaurant, bar, and boat rental facility, located in the heart of Forest Park on Post-Dispatch Lake, is like no other place in St. Louis. In the warm weather enjoy leisurely boat rides, lakeside patio dining, cold drinks, and beautiful sunsets. In the cold weather enjoy indoor dining for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch...or just come and enjoy a glass of wine or a hot chocolate while relaxing around the large stone wood-burning fireplace.

We have two Australian shepherds that travel with us. It was so nice to be able to take them with us to a restaurant instead of leaving them in the car. The people and service were awesome. The food was great. They even brought our little guys some water and treats!

You can't beat the views here. Plenty of outdoor seating. And they also have live music sometimes. There's even a window where you can just order a beer. The food is fine but its just nothing special. Unless you really want to enjoy the view I recommend you walk back to the CWE and eat there.

The paddle boat is a nice experience. My wife and I liked it very much.

This is a great date place during the winter months; it isn't as busy and the menu expands.

There are three great things about the boat house. The scenery is beyond amazing, they are dog friendly, and their fries were delicious. Sadly these things don't make up for the problems with the place. First problem was the menu was completely different from the menu we looked at on trip advisor. The waitress told use that the menu changed a few months but by reading the reviews this might have been a year or so ago. We ended up ordering the same burger. Even with the BBQ sauce the burger was super bland. They forgot the BBQ sauce for my boyfriend's burger and we had to wait to get it for long then it should have took. Granted the place was a little busy but I've been to busy restaurants and it was never that bad. We also had to ask for refills on our sodas not once but twice but the waitress seem to have time to socialize with the table next to us. The quality of the food was NOT worth what we paid for. Probably would have been better off going to McDonald's. Don't waste your money there.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. My boyfriend and I went over to forest park to visit the zoo and see the park. We were excited to see there was a restaurant inside the park so we went to the boathouse restaurant. There is a cool ambiance and the restaurant is right on the water. Right when we got there we waited for nearly 40 minutes, it was a fairly populated restaurant. When we were sat, we where soon greeted by our waitress-- that was about the last we saw of her. She wasn't very friendly but wasn't horrible and we put in our order. We didn't see her again until she brought our food back out. She asked if we would like ketchup and she never ended up bringing it, my boyfriend even tried to call her over but she wouldn't come. So after 15 minutes my boyfriend, very angry by now, went and had to get ketchup from the waitress stand himself. By that time his burger was cold and he only ate half. He loves burgers and says that it was the worst he has had in his life. I got the Santa Fe salad which was okay, I wanted more dressing but again she NEVER came back to check on us. We basically spent our entire meal with no water and no sauce. Would recommend just coming for the paddle boats because that was a blast but skip the food. Mcdonalds has better service and food.

The location is awesome, right in the middle of the park, which why we've been there many times. But location is not everything... We are continually disappointed with the food and it seems to just get worse every time. The menu has never been very broad but yet it has steadily been shrinking over time. After today, I'm sad to say that unless they make changes, we may never go back.

I think this is the best spot for a first date in St. Louis during any time of the year. Paddleboats and Forest Park activities in the summer, and s'mores around a bonfire near Christmas. (Call ahead to make sure they haven't sold out of marshmallows!) Staff is friendly and environment is classy casual.
