Taking their name from the J.G. Ballard novel that became a 1987 Steven Spielberg film, Australia's larger-than-life electro-glam-pop duo Empire of the Sun feature the Sleepy Jackson's Luke Steele and Pnau's Nick Littlemore. Steele had previously worked with Pnau on "With You Forever," a track from the band's 2007 self-titled third album, and the pair enjoyed collaborating so much that they started their own project, drawing inspiration from the likes of Phoenix and Daft Punk. In fall 2008, Empire of the Sun released their debut album, Walking on a Dream, which the musicians described as "a spiritual road movie." Featuring songs co-written by Pnau's other half, Peter Mayes, the album went platinum in Australia and the title track became a hit single across the globe.

After last year's sell-out crowd at the inaugural Night in the City, this special event returns again to the Grand Theatre in Reno. This rockin' country party is the Biggest Little City's taste of Nevada's longest-running country music festival, Night in the Country.

THE LINEUP
Headlining Night in the City is Drake White and The Big Fire (Grammy Award winner, Artist Of Tomorrow). White and his band have opened for acts like Eric Church, Luke Bryan and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The band introduced their signature blend of rock and country with their debut single “Simple Life” in 2013. In August 2016, White released his debut album “Spark” boasting hits like “Livin’ the Dream,” “It Feels Good” and “Makin’ Me Look Good Again.”
Opening for Night in the City are Drew Baldridge and Brandon Lay. Drew Baldridge, currently on the Sirius XM Highway Finds Tour, recently released his critically acclaimed debut album featuring an eclectic track list like the soul infused opener "Train" and the poppy ballad "Rebound". Brandon Lay recently signed a recording contract with Universal Music Group Nashville after an award-winning run as a songwriter, penning the hit "Home Game" for Cole Swindell.

To get a taste of the hottest up-and-coming country music acts, get your tickets now for a Night in the City at the Grand Theatre, Grand Sierra Resort.
