I wonder if God made sure there was a direct connection between Him and you, which meant He had to keep you protected?  My son has autism and I am making the my PhD research about autism and God.  So many autistic (or people with autism...I never know which one is really offensive or not) have expressed a deep relationship with God and, after teaching two years of religion classes to kids with autism, I am constantly amazed at the insights and wisdom you have been gifted to have.

Maybe God kept your innocence intact because this cruddy world needs it so much?  It seems like it would be pretty important.
