Passing the Million-mile Mark

-Debbie Conner is a pickup truck kind of lady. She loves her F-350 truck so much that on September 12, 2011, she traded hers in for a newer F-350 – after racking up 1,060,000 miles on her 2002 model! How did Debbie manage to log over 1,000,000 miles on her pickup truck, which she affectionately nicknamed “Old Girl?” Debbie and her husband, who live in Parker, Pennsylvania, used their F-350 to deliver camper vehicles all over the United States and Canada. With the help of her husband, a self-proclaimed Ford man through and through, Debbie took meticulous care of Old Girl, staying on top of repairs and general upkeep.Though Debbie said she was “sad to give up the Old Girl,” she and her husband love their new F-350. “It is just amazing,” Debbie said. In fact, they’ve already accrued over 8,500 miles in the six weeks since making the trade. But the story’s not over for Old Girl. In fact, only eight days after being traded in, Debbie’s truck found a new home with Roy Baird, a native of Louisville, Kentucky. Though Roy wasn’t in the market for an F-350, he couldn’t deny that the truck was impressive. With its shiny red exterior, silver skirt, and factory wheels, Roy said that the truck was a real head turner. Plus, after Debbie’s excellent care and maintenance, the truck is in amazing condition. Though Roy holds his trucks to high standards, after spending years on the road as a truck driver, he tells us, “I took it for a 10-mile test drive and when I got back, I hopped out of the cab, and immediately said, ‘Sold!’ I really couldn’t have fallen into a better deal.”Roy has big plans for the truck. “My dream is to go to the Grand Canyon. I want to see it so badly; it’s just killing me. And, I know I can make it in this truck. This thing’s a trooper.”

2013 Ford Shelby GT500 delivers 650 HP and 200 MPH straight from the factory

Six hundred and fifty horsepower. Six hundred pound-feet of torque. Over 200 miles per hour. With specs like these, you don't need long-form introductions. This is the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, and all we can say is, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has officially been put on notice. The heart of the new Ford stunner is a 5.8-liter, aluminum-block V8, complete with a larger, more efficient supercharger. Nearly the entire powertrain has been upgraded for 2013, including a new cross-drilled block and heads, updated camshaft profiles, a carbon fiber driveshaft and upgraded clutch, transmission and axle. The cooling system has also been upgraded, and the new six-speed manual transmission now has a final drive ratio of 3.31-to-1 – optimized to handle the massive amounts of torque put down by the new engine. Further enhancements can be had in the GT500 Performance Pack, which incorporates SVT-designed Blistein electronic adjustable dampers with 'normal' and 'sport' modes and a Torsen limited-slip differential. What's more, the Track Package adds an external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler. Like the current GT500, 19-inch wheels are standard up front (20-inch rollers are found out back) and a Brembo braking system keeps everything in check when its time to control all that force. The whole package weighs in at just 3,850 pounds – 270 less than the Camaro ZL1 – and Ford says it will not be subject to the dreaded Gas Guzzler Tax. Visually, not too much has changed from the current GT500, save some minor aerodynamic tweaks like an ever-so-slightly revised front fascia with new air splitters, as well as a minimally tweaked rear end. Inside, it's the same levels of comfort and refinement that you'll find in the rest of the Mustang lineup, albeit with new Recaro front buckets.

The new Ford Fiesta ST Concept will certainly turn some heads when it hits the streets!

-If you're wondering about the future of Ford powertrains, the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show and the 2013 Ford Escape should provide all the clues you need. The entry-level crossover features a pair of EcoBoost four-cylinder engines and exactly zero V6 options. The smallest EcoBoost displaces only 1.6 liters, and promises terrific fuel economy and performance. That engine is the thriftiest engine in the Escape, but what if it were to reside under the hood of something much smaller? That's where the Fiesta ST Concept comes into play. The performance-oriented Fiesta is on display at the Ford exhibit in LA, and though it's a showcar for now, this B-segment hatch looks production ready. Ford claims that in this application, the 1.6-liter EcoBoost delivers 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque – a whopping 60 more ponies than the naturally aspirated 1.6 featured in the garden-variety production Fiesta. Given that the base Fiesta is only 2,600 pounds, we're guessing 180 horsepower is more than enough punch to turn the Fiesta into one heck of a fun ride. The Fiesta ST concept certainly looks the part of a high-performance hatch, with a gaping, aggressive black mesh grille, attractive body-colored moldings and chunky five-spoke 17-inch wheels. Jeremy Clarkson to make cameo appearance on '70s cop show remake. Featuring the 2012 Ford Focus ST!

-Jeremy Clarkson may show up in a remake of a classic UK cop show. The Top Gear presenter was recently spotted loitering around a Jaguar XF during production of the show Sweeny, and it's thought that Jezza will show up in a minor cameo role. In the original production, Detectives Jack Regan and George Carter whipped around in hot metal like the Ford Consul GT or a Granada, but The Daily Mail reports that their modern counterparts will take to the streets in an equivalently tasty Ford Focus ST. The detectives will be played by Ray Winstone and Ben Drew. According to reports, Clarkson wasn't originally slated to be part of the remake, but the show was filming near the Top Gear test track and managed to talk Clarkson into hopping in front of the camera when he stopped by to say hello.
