The weather has been hot, but not as hot as it's been in the desert.  Driving to the desert is nutty on some days since the van does not currently have AC.  But it was a glorious Palm Springs Easter anyway.  I've been working for Lisa for six months now.  I...

I kissed the lips of a dying woman last night.  I am not a "let me kiss you" sort of person.  She wanted me to and so I did.  And now I have all of her photos in my hands, and her name on my to-do list. Everything about this life is short.   I am...not doin...

I had my 89 Toyota Celica towed here (free diagnostic and towing with major repair) after I had what I believed was a combination of engine and radiator trouble. Turns out it was a water pump and a timing belt, to which I was recommended a new engine for $1500. This was not going to happen for me, and Matt offered me the alternative of just repairing the water pump and timing belt along with a rear main seal and a clutch. With coolant and oil, this was going to be about $1300 + tax. I went home to do my research After finding that water pumps for my car are about $30 at Autozone and that $300 was an outrageous amount for this repair, I also spoke to the previous owner of the car who is a close friend of mine who had owned it for 10 years about the clutch, to which I was told that it was only about 1,000 miles old as once it was installed the car was only driven for about 300 miles before I drove it for about 700 miles before this happened. Willing to at least cut my losses with the pump, I asked not to do the clutch. Now Matt's dad came in the picture and told me "since you're financing it you might as well finance the clutch too." What an insult. Obviously if I drive a 25 year old car and I'm trying to finance the repair, I'm clearly not in a situation where I can just be all "hey I'm already eating this really big sandwich, I might as well bite off more than I can chew." Matt was quite passive aggressive. The car was rolled out of the garage into the alley, and when I asked if I could just roll it out of the way since it would be a minute before I got a tow truck, Matt informed me that the car doesn't run, and also that I cannot move it by myself. Also, when I informed them that I would be paying the $160 for the tow and diagnostic and that I would be coming by before they closed to handle everything. 45 minutes later Matt calls me and asks if I'm planning to come get my car some time today. Overall, rude, weird crying Jesus posters everywhere, and high pressure for unnecessary repairs. PS, it took me three times of asking but Matt finally answered how much the interest rate is on their 90 days same as cash. It's 95%. Be warned.
