Take a peek at the blog for our recipe for Foil-Braaied Yellowtail with Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc.

Even the leftovers were lip-smacking; a real winner, and the Sauvignon Blanc a beautiful match!

Happy braaing this weekend! :)

Great photo (by Justin Gous) of the 2017 +Bellingham Wines Sauvignon Blanc, part of the Homestead Range.

We found the Bellingham story to be rather interesting. Apparently Bernard and Fredagh Podlashuk bought the farm way back in 1943 after Bernard was boarded from the Airforce.

"...and that, as far as I am concerned, was the beginning of a meaningful life.” ~Fredagh Podlashuk, 1983.

An excerpt from their website: 'Originally known as Bellinchamp (which translates to ‘pretty fields’), Bellingham traces its roots to 1693 when Hollander Gerrit Janz van Vuuren and his French Huguenot wife planted the first 1000 vines on the estate. It then passed from family to family until 1943.'

Today, Bellingham's winemaker, Niël Groenewald, is affectionately dubbed 'gentle giant', and is described as warm, engaging, and having a natural ability to educate and excite those who come into contact with him about South African wines. Sounds as if a visit is in order. 😃

Did you realise how easy it is to braai a mielie? No foil, oil or fancy-anything needed. Straight on the braai for about 10 minutes; keep 'em turning to brown on all sides. And if you do want a bit of fancy, serve with a dollop of herb butter! Simple.

Recipe for braaied yellowtail and mielies up on the blog today, paired beautifully with a Constantia Valley gem; the +Steenberg Vineyards 2017 Sauvignon Blanc.

We thoroughly enjoyed lunch at Terroir at Kleine Zalze the other day. We highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

A note from RJ, winemaker at Klein Zalze, about the 2017 Sauvignon Blanc: "This is a new release and a particularly good vintage which we're excited to share with you. At the moment it's still only available at the tasting room, so pull in!"

Well? What are you waiting for?

Lovely! Really enjoyed reading the story behind wine.co.za. Well done, team!
Looking back over the last 21 years at wine.co.za
Local wine portal, www.wine.co.za, is celebrating 21 years this year, having registered the URL wine.co.za as proud South Africans in the early days in 1996, when the internet was just a buzzword.
