North Carolina's Outer Banks and its beaches are a sun-lover's paradise, and our stay in Kitty Hawk was just about perfect. Beach. Sun. Atlantic Ocean. Seafood. Plenty of history. Great vacation.

The Three Sisters of Glencoe Valley lend a mystical, Brigadoonish altmosphere to the height and strength of these green, red, and brown mountains. Crowned in the white mist, it is quite a majestic and magical place.

This tradesman community, one of several communities founded by the Moravians, a German-speaking Protestant group, is fascinating and a meaningful part of American history. George Washington was even there in 1791.

These shoes, on the bank of the Danube in Budapest, honor the memories of the Jews who were stripped naked, shot by the Arrow Cross Party for Jewish Activities and pushed into the river during the winters of 1944 and 1945. It is incredibly moving, and visitors are incredibly silent.
