Congrats on finishing week 6. On Saturday I officially finished the program. I would love to say it got magically easier but like you have said those first 5 minutes are rough. I have found that each week I have gotten a tiny bit faster but much like you I am not worried about speed just getting consistent and more comfortable.

Even now I having completed the program i can't do 5k in 30 minutes. How I treated week 7 through 9 was to decide based on how I felt if I was after time or distance. So if the day said 28 minutes or 2.75 miles I would decide if I was having a good run at 28 minutes I would keep running until I got to 2.75 miles but if I felt bad I would stop at the time even though I was short of the distance.

Basically that meant in week 9, 2 days I ran 5k both times it took around 38 minutes. Mostly just listening to my body. My knees and quads tell me pretty quickly what the plan is for the day. For now I am planning to run a 5k race in a few weeks and then slowly keep upping my distance to be able to do 10k's in the fall.

I am really enjoying following along with you. A trip to Australia is on my bucket list so running Sydney harbor sounds amazing. Keep up the great work.

+Gary Roberts Congratulations on finishing and thank you for keeping me posted! It's good to know you're also focusing on distance and letting the speed come in time. Good luck with your 5 - 10k. I hope to hear you've been running around the harbour one day soon :)

This video is amazing, as a photographer I know how much more I can do now than even when I got my first digital camera 10 years ago. Now looking at this video I expect that all of the shots in this video cost less to produce than it would have cost to do just one of them 10 years ago just because of how amazingly far camera and drone technology has come.

I have a quad with a GoPro and find new and interesting view to explore every day.  Love the new frontier of photography/videography.

Another before and after using only Lighroom 5 based on the +Serge Ramelli tutorials. Mostly a proof of concept. This was shot out my window at work this morning with my Fuji X100. I bought that camera to carry all the time since the Canon 7D is just a bit too much to have with me everyday. It is god to see that I can get a good amount of detail back in the Fuji raw files. I need  to work  on shooting photos specifically make use of the editing techniques but for now sunrises make mornings at work just a bit easier.

The Sundial Bridge in Redding is amazing but at least for me a huge challenge to photograph. I couldn't seem to find an angle to capture as much of it as I wanted but I did get some interesting shots.

Had a great shoot today and just to end it on a good not needed to make sure I kept my ability to shoot natural light headshots dialed in. Sometimes feels things get too complicated, too much studio work nice to just see the light and shoot the light sometimes.

Congratulations, I had no doubt you could do it. I am mostly through week 8 now, will finish it tomorrow. I have felt more tired through week 7 and 8 but think I am getting through that a bit. So just keep going . I do think I would say it gets harder but instead now it is just pushing while your body gets stronger. I am oddly getting the itch to run 4 days a week which hopefully if my body holds together for a few weeks of 3, 30 minute runs I will do. I'm not sure why now at 48 I've decided that running is a good thing but for now it is my thing I want to get better at.

Oh and you have a great view and I am a fan of the light minimalist design.

+Gary Roberts Thank you :) You were right about week 5 not being as bad as you think it's going to be. I was looking at week 7 & 8 today and I can see how that would be tiring. Have you missed doing intervals? A few weeks for 3 x 30 and you'll be hitting the "Bridge to 10k" program by the sounds of it. Excellent that you have discovered running. If that's your thing then awesome! I'm feeling as though I will want to continue running after week 9. I have a few goals in terms of landmarks around Sydney I would like to run to so that might help keep me motivated. Well done on getting through week 8!

Finding that I can do a lot more with one photo in Lighroom 5 than I used to understand. I've gotten much closer to doing HDR work with one photo that I ever thought possible.

This is a bike from Loose Cannon Fabrication at the Sacramento Easyriders Bike show. It is funny I know little about motorcycles but the minute I saw this bike I knew it was special, just amazing and different. It ended up winning best in show which I guess is second in a row for the designers. Current dream is to shoot this without all the event distractions not sure it will happen but hopefully

Thanks to watching just a couple very good tutorials by +Serge Ramelli  I managed to edit 1 photo in Lightroom 5 to look almost equal to what took me a 9 exposure HDR photo before. The HDR still might have a bit more detail here and there but for my 1st attempt at expanding what I can do with Lightroom I am really happy.

Learning the updated google+ is as good a reason as any to add a new picture to my gallery on here.

Last year I read a ton of articles and posts on Manhattanhenge when the sun lines up with the grid in Manhattan. So using http://suncalc.net I found when that same thing happened in Sacramento to try to shoot my own Sacramentohenge image.

Sadly the exact day the sky was boring so this is from a couple days later when the sun was a few degrees up and the sky was so much better.

So why is it when you don't have access to your files is the time you have 100 things you want to do with them. Well backing them up is more important.

This was taken at the Kelby #wwpw2012  , I am still debating between 2 or 3 images deciding what to submit but as much as I like this one it was out in the 1st set of cuts.
