Even now I having completed the program i can't do 5k in 30 minutes. How I treated week 7 through 9 was to decide based on how I felt if I was after time or distance. So if the day said 28 minutes or 2.75 miles I would decide if I was having a good run at 28 minutes I would keep running until I got to 2.75 miles but if I felt bad I would stop at the time even though I was short of the distance.
Basically that meant in week 9, 2 days I ran 5k both times it took around 38 minutes. Mostly just listening to my body. My knees and quads tell me pretty quickly what the plan is for the day. For now I am planning to run a 5k race in a few weeks and then slowly keep upping my distance to be able to do 10k's in the fall.
I am really enjoying following along with you. A trip to Australia is on my bucket list so running Sydney harbor sounds amazing. Keep up the great work.
