Absolutely made my day. :)

This is why we do what we do:

"Thank you Emily for your patience. And I'm so glad I joined this group. I am doing things I always wanted to but was afraid to try!
As you can see you have a group member for any group you create..."

Rode my bike last Sunday for a very easy 6 miles. I've been suffering ever since with neck pain. Scoliosis and cycling don't like each other but usually I can work around it. Can't wait for my chiropractic visit on Thursday. Sometimes I would like to be "normal," just for a day!!

Anyone else like this exercise?

Exercise Highlight: THREAD THE NEEDLE

This exercise will strengthen your core & stabilize your spine.

-Lie on your left side, legs straight & stacked on top of another.
-Bend the left elbow & put it under your shoulder.
-Keep abs engaged & head aligned with spine.
-Slowly lift your knees/hips off the floor, keep the side of your right foot in contact with the ground.
-Breathe as you hold this position while extending your right arm toward the ceiling. Look at your right hand.
-Thread the right arm under your body while keeping the core engaged, then extend right arm back up to the ceiling.
-Do 8-10 repetitions & switch sides.

If you find it's too difficult, do the same exercise from the knees instead of from the feet. Don't wait - Try it tonight! #exercisehighlight

The bad thing about living in a small apartment is it gets dirty quick, especially with 3 pets. The good thing, it's easy to clean & takes no time. All in all who cares. I live in Hawaii. If I don't feel like cleaning or being in a tiny space I can just go to the beach. Ha!

What's your favorite fruit? One of mine would have to be oranges. Yum!!

Do tell, have you eaten fruit today?

Strive for a minimum of 3 servings of fruit every day for a healthy diet. This orange is one serving. #healthydiettip

You probably already knew this, but just in case you didn't know why...

Have you heard of a "closed packed joint?" This is demonstrated in image one. It's a locked joint.  You lose mobility thus increasing the potential for injury.

In this lat pull down with bar behind head, the shoulder joint is locked with external rotation involved (not to mention the neck is in danger). Very dangerous. Always have good posture and bring the bar in front, as shown in image two. #exercisehighlight

That's my girl!!!

Here's a picture of my long distance client Ronna, who I highlighted a couple of weeks ago. This shows progress from her dedication.

I feel this is important to show. Many times we see before/after pics of enormous changes & massive weight loss. But there was a lot of hard work and dedication in between what you see. It doesn't happen overnight.

Ronna has been eating better and exercising consistently for almost a year. She's made great changes in her life. She has more energy, feels well now, has more confidence - which plays out in other areas, and has lowered her risk of disease. Plus she's changed the way her entire family views food. This is HUGE!

She still has a bit of work ahead BUT instead of watching scales & obsessing about her weight, her focus is a lifestyle of health. She found that eating well feels better & exercise can be fun!

That's why she will succeed and why she already has succeeded! Proud of you, girl!

If you're reading this and have tried & failed in the past, so did she. So has countless others that have now joined the ranks of healthy living. YOU CAN MAKE A CHANGE! There's no magic to it & no quick fix but that's ok. It's small steps. It's learning to love yourself, to trust others and to never give up. Please let us know if you need help! - Emily, Owner & trainer #weightlossjourney   #healthylifestyle

Another marathon training run done. Here's this week's tip:
When a volunteer hands you a dollop of goo on the end of a stick, don't mistake it for fuel & try to eat it. You'll give your volunteer a heart attack. It is NOT fuel. It's Vaseline!

My long distance fitness client, Ronna, has done so well over this past year!
Over the past ten months I've been working with Ronn<u>a, who is a long distance fitness client.  Her goals were what yours may be.  She wanted to gain energy, lose weight & create a healthy lifestyle for herself and her fami...

Long run today for marathon training so here's another tip for anyone out there who may be interested:
Lengthen training time out to add in rest weeks (every 4-5 weeks). Also so you can repeat long run mileage a few times.
On a more fun note, preplan your route for lots of shade. Makes a huge difference when you're going lots of miles!!

This is a great article and I'm definitely getting this book! I see this all the time with clients. Like she said, I don't want to help people become obsessive. Can't wait to read this book, and I'm excited to get my next certification that works on this too (ACE Health Coach).

We’ve been working with Yogamour and Marie-Josee for the past three years and it’s been a wonderful experience each and every time. My company has asked Marie-Josee to work with our athletes so they stay flexible and relaxed during our training programs. Many of these athletes are new to yoga. Marie-Josee takes this into consideration and provides a safe environment for them to feel at ease. She also gathers information beforehand to gear the yoga to fit the specific needs of the class participants. Yogamour has always gone above and beyond. Not only are the classes geared specifically to our needs, but they also meet us in the location of our choosing and even have made suggestions on how to improve the experience. This past class we had with Marie-Josee she suggested moving to a quieter, more secluded spot (in the park we met) to allow for more relaxation. She then taught a wonderful class under the stars that our athletes are still talking about. Marie-Josee has displayed nothing but professionalism, kindness and she always goes above and beyond what’s expected. We will continue to use Yogamour as a part of our programs. I highly recommend Yogamour and Marie-Josee for anyone who wants a great yoga class. -- Emily Collins, Owner of OnTrack Fitness
