The price to make the jump to medium format just got a lot more affordable
The Pentax 645D has just seen another major price drop. This 40-megapixel medium format digital camera, which retailed for around $10,000 when it launched in 2010, is now selling for $3999 (body only) from B&H Photo, Amazon, and other locations.

We got some beautiful work for our recent Fine Art Photography assignment in Shutterbug magazine.
Perfect Harmony David Swanson captured this image in a millisecond with a Nikon D7100 at ISO 100 and a Tokina 100-400mm lens at f/22 using a 36mm extension tube. Gelled blue and orange speedlights created the colors reflecting off a white mount board. It took Swanson 240 shots but he was able to ...

Photo of the Day!
Our Shutterbug Photo of the Day is a beautiful cityscape tinged in shades of peaceful blue with a single flare of vivid, bright orange. “A fabulous view of the evening sky with the wonderful cityline of Kuala Lumpur,” writes Debarshi Mukherjee, who shot the image. This image was shot with a Canon 5D Mark III and a 70-200mm lens at f/2.8, 1/200 sec, +1/3. See a larger version of the photo in the Shutterbug Photo of the Day gallery here.

Summer "wildlife." ;-)
Our Shutterbug Photo of the Day is a crystal clear image by Leslie Todd of a dragonfly delicately resting on a twig. “Kentucky countryside, dragonflies are everywhere,” writes Todd. See a larger version of the photo in the Shutterbug Photo of the Day gallery here.

Shutterbug writer Jon Sienkiewicz was lucky enough to put this beautiful picture-taking machine through its paces recently. Check out if the Leica Q is really more than just a pretty face in his review.
It’s July and Leica just confirmed that I can pick up a sample of the new LEICA Q (Typ 116) digital camera at their headquarters tomorrow. I became eager to try one after reading Dan Havlik’s hands-on, first-look review last month. Leica is allowing me to borrow the sample for exactly six days.
