During the two weeks before Holy Easter, a lot of people of Sorrento are busy preparing everything for Palm Sunday and the Processions of Holy Thursday and Friday: it's time to prepare and cook the traditional easter cakes named #Casatielli and #Pastiere, as a gift for friends and relatives.
Everywhere you can breath a special "smell" of Feast: confectionery's windows proudly show chocolate Easter Eggs and the typical cakes like Casatielli and Colombe (these are similar to Pandoro and Panettone but with the shape of a dove, christian symbol of peace); sugar little sheeps for kids and the traditional and exclusive (only for Sorrento and the sourrounding area) "Palme di confetti" which every girl brings to Church and blesses them for the Palm Sunday liturgy.
Also Nature seems to "party": plants come to life after the cold winter and in the gardens and up the walls of the streets of the hystorical center the colourful and scentend fresie sprout, typical flower of the "surrentine" Easter.
Daylight stays for longer and the sun, at sunset, gives us such amazing colors!
For the inhabitants of Peninsula Sorrentina, we can truly say, Easter is the best time of the year!

You can see below some pics about Easter traditions.
