Little Branch is a speakeasy in the West Village. The entrance is so unassuming, you will easily pass it by unless you're looking for it. How I found it was that there was a bouncer standing by an unmarked door checking for IDs. When you get it you see this hip place, low music playing in the background. There is a lot of chatter from various booths but you can see them because they're below the height of the chair. Drinks are well concocted and are all the same price and it's Cash only. There's a drink list, but it's recommended that you go for the bartender's choice where you tell them your type of spirit and the type of ingredients you want incorporated into the drink. Then, voila they'll serve you up the masterpiece for the evening, complete with a nifty name. You'll have at it, then repeat. Really charming spot and great for dates.

This was the first speak easy I ever went to in new york and it was great. Sasha Petraske sure knows what he is doing. If you are looking for a nice booth for a small group or a double date this is a lovely place. I always let the bartenders choose my drink here because it is soo much fun throwing out random thoughts and feelings and seeing what deliciousness they will bring back to you. The Place is small so there is typically a wait on the weekends. And the only way you will know it is there is if there is a doorman outside or you know that is the door on the corner.

I was taken here by a friend of the owners and we were treated like royalty. Granted my experience isn't typical of the every day punter, but I had the impression that the typical experience for the locals who frequent Little Branch was a hark to the menu-less glory of yesteryear - where it was bartender's were free to create and surprise patrons based on nothing more than a simple flavor or spirit. The Maître d sat with us and asked us what we liked to drink usually, we told her our preferences and not long after she returned with a drink for each of us to satisfy our respective palettes. Could not have been happier and would definitely return with friends when next in the neighborhood.

By day, the entrance to Little Branch blends in with the faded, peeling background; at night, there's inevitably a line that builds as the hours go by. And it's not without good reason; this speakeasy boasts a perfectly dimmed interior and an extensive list of cocktails. My favorite happens to be the Bee's Knees, a delicately blended drink consisting of gin, lemon, and honey. If none of the options listed work for you, opt for the Bartender's Choice by listing a few of your drink preferences (liquor base, sweetness, ingredients, etc.) for a unique drink of your own. The venue is cash only, so come prepared.

You have to go right when it opens or finding a seat might be the hardest task on the planet. That being said - go here if you like unique, well crafted cocktails. Expect to pay around $15 a drink. I had 3 drinks and didn't even realize how drunk I got, I had absolutely no intention of getting drunk. I was just out with a friend, but we couldn't resist ordering more drinks. They were so good. I had a refreshing cucumber mint drink and she had a spicy one, can't remember the names, but I'm not sure you can go wrong with anything here. If you don't know what you want, tell your waiter/waitress what you like and don't like and they'll mix up something special.

It is small place in a basement and full of great cocktails. It is hard to find from the outside, just ask the people that are lined up a door.
