Oakland is a treasure trove of food destinations, from the Bay Area's best Kouign Amann to Indian street food. Explore them all with Edible Excursions' newest tour of Temescal, the city's hippest neighborhood.

+James Ngo Thank you! Cilantro pesto is milder in flavor than basil pesto, and a great way to use up a whole bunch :)

Some fabulous stories being shared on memorable seafood moments. Share yours and, if you live in the US, you could win a gift card from i love blue sea, an online retailer of sustainable seafood.

It's certainly use-up-your-herbs-week on the blogosphere, in a coincidence of creative serendipity. Here's my contribution - a green goddess dressing perfect for anything from salads to pasta to fish and meat, featuring avocado instead of mayo. Because, as we all know, avocado is the new mayo!

My love affair with Seattle. (Also, the joy of photographing a conference filled with folks you already know)

Travel Oregon hosted a bunch of food writers over the weekend and I opted to go on a fishing and crabbing trip on the Columbia River. Here are some highlights.

Genia Larionova originally shared:

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity answered, “Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
