WOW! I went to Blue Point for the first time after living downtown for 7 years because I thought it was going to be too expensive. It turns out, They have an AMAZING happy hour daily from 5:00-6:30 $1 Osysters a variety of $4 beers and "on point" happy hour wines. The oysters were extremely fresh and shucked right in front of us. The customer service was extremely impressive, above and beyond. The manager was very inclined to make sure our selections were prepared to order. I recommend the mussels steamed in garlic broth and also the happy hour jumbo shrimp cocktail! Keep up the great customer service and class and best happy hour in downtown San Diego.

The food was quite excellent. The wine was unremarkable - a very common supermarket wine at 3 x the price. Why can't restaurants bring you something a little different? Then you'd feel it was worth paying the premium. The service was fragmented: I think 5 people altogether turned up at my table at various times. And one guy in a suit cleared my plate and said "very delicious". I wasn't sure if it was a statement or a question. Either way, I can only imagine it's the latest thing they've taught them to say in waiter school. Only once did anyone other than I fill either of my 2 glasses. And my main waiter (I think) brought me the happy hour menu instead of the dessert menu; but then he was very happy, if not very focused. But the food was very good and the view from the perspex-protected terrace was quite interesting.

Our company had traveled to San Diego form Chicago for a business trip and we spent a good amount of time scoping the Gas Lamp area for nice places to dine and spend time. My colleague had been here before and so we went on a Thursday evening when it was not too crowded. I will say this: if you are in San Diego, GO. Absolutely phenomenal service – both the food and the staff. The waiter was extremely helpful and recommended the blueberry mojito since I love sweet drinks, and I was floored by how good it tasted. I ordered the chicken which was so tender and juicy, and the succulent vegetables with mashed potatoes. I have not ever had chicken so well prepared. The oysters for the appetizer were good too, although I had never eaten any prior. All for a very generous price, considering it is made so well. I would definitely make this a stop on your list if you are ever in the area!

Terribly overpriced food and mediocre, unprofessional service. Tourist trap for sure.

I can't say much for the food because our server never showed up. I had two people make eye contact and then just walk away. I've worked in restaurants for the better part of my life and was VERY disappointed. Finally after 10 minutes we decided that if you were $40 a plate the service better match and left. Go to Barleymash the fabulous pub on the opposite street corner.

Food was mediocre, edible but under seasoned. Waiters made an effort, but with two of them it still took 15 min for a glass of wine.
