We have been to The Local about 8 times now. We love the food and most times love the service. One time we did have an issue and I reached out to the manager and he seemed to take it very seriously. Next time we visited I forgot to take him up on his kind offer he gave me, but the service was back to great and that was all I really wanted in the first place. Great location, great art, and a great atmosphere - if you are thinking of going.... don't hesitate.

Great food. I had a perfect flank steak here and it was amazing. Also there's a neat bar in the back that is a lot of fun. Great drinks.

This was an incredible dinner spot. Delicious food with a decent wine list and friendly staff.

Had the vegetable pasta of the day. It had hardly any vegetables. The Caesar salad was mediocre. The blackberry cobbler was good, except for the cobbler, which had a weird sour taste. So disappointing.

Very good food. Alot of which is locally sourced. The menu is pretty static though. A great place for a date night.

There are not enough stars to rate just how great this place is. I eat there every time I come to town to visit my family and I have never been disappointed. Start with a Hinton cocktail. I stick to the vegetarian dishes, but my family loves the steak frites and the meatloaf. They make a killer truffle mac and cheese, too! They have a porch upstairs that's delightful in good weather, and they can enclose it when it gets a little cooler. They also hang local artists' work downstairs each month. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere.

Should be 4-5. I walked in on a Tuesday evening. It was busy. As someone that has worked in the industry, I know single tables can be trouble. I did not expect the eye roll from the hostess. She promptly told me, rather frankly, that I would be best suited for the bar (with look of condescension). No apology about being booked, or if you like we can best accommodate you at the bar. No just injust indignation of being a single top. If the food and the friendly bartender hadn't been so pleasant I would have given The Local only 2 stars. The portion was on the small side. I had the Duck, which was prepared very well, but for $22 I expected a little more. The beer selection is no where near their wine selection. Of course that goes with the local fare as it is wine country of Va. The bartender was good a suggesting both food and beers. The overall atmosphere was great. The biggest and most glaring detractor was the hostess. I've seen multiple reviews to this point. I wounder if the restaurant even reads reviews? Also in this day and age not being on twitter is a lost opportunity.
