i3 spotted in the wild
Here's a quite cool story, 3 times cool to be precise. Here is the underground station of Toledo in Naples (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toledo_(metropolitana_di_Napoli)), (cool stuff #1) considered one of the most beautiful stations in the world. In the station INFN (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare - National Institute for Nuclear Physics) installed (cool stuff #2) a cosmic ray detector (link in the same Wiki page above: https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Rilevatore_di_raggi_cosmici_nella_stazione_Toledo_di_Napoli.jpg), that shows direction and power of cosmic rays reaching more than 40 meters underground!
The detector is connected to a PC conveniently running i3 (you can recognize the default i3bar configuration in the picture) to show two windows (oops! should I say containers?), an informative clip and the data from latest detected cosmic ray.
I tried to explain the guys how they could hide the bar for a sleeker layout but, unfortunately, no one of them would touch anything but the code processing detector data.
I wasn't able to find a better picture of the detector and screen online: mine were also quite blurry, since I am usually rushing to catch the train when I am there. Maybe next time...

And here is my DIY / industrial-style / whatever-I-found-in-the-workshop bent sheetmetal wrist rest. It's all made from salvaged material: 1.5mm zinc plated sheetmetal, rubber hose from a washing machine (rear edge) and some kind of plastic lining (front edge).
Companion keyboard is a Cooler Master Storm TKL with Topre switches (veeeery nice and comfortable for typing).
Not as classy as +Josh Sabboth wooden thingy, but it works fine.
