Obviously the people who wrote the reviews stating Professor Malachias and his wife being rude, unreasonable, unpleasant, and bad attitude did not train/exercise at Gracie Barra Westchase. I've been at the school since April of 2011 and I can easily say Professor Malachias is the most humble and respectful person I've met. You can ask him questions about his jiu-jitsu journey and he will actively answer them. His humbleness and respect are the reasons why so many people train at at his barra. I have never seen him lose his cool or talk down on anyone of his students or coworkers/staff. Plus his wife is friends to all who come into the barra. Along with a great professor, the fellow students are helpful and humble. If they see you doing something that's not advantageous to your growth they show you how to do it and help you with the technique. When you step on the mats you will see a melting pot of students. You will Hispanics, Caucasians, African-Americans, Oriental, Middle Eastern, I mean the vast variety of cultures, races, and ethnicities is immeasurable. But I can honestly say GB Westchase is an amazing place to be and great place to learn.

When you come to this place, other people should expect you to show a very good first impression. You should be willing, or even just a little curious to learn and always show respect to the instructors and get the same treatment in return. That being said, I've never seen any rude attitude coming from the people who work there and I was greeted with a smile and open arms. I felt like I belonged there the first day I came in and tried their program. This is by far the best place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Wrestling in the city. It helped me with my discipline, weight-loss, and health. If you want to improve your lifestyle, then this is the place to be.

I am a Ralph Gracie Black Belt. I've had the pleasure of training with Ulpiano for many years as we came up the ranks together in California. His instruction is superb, and his skills on the mat are top notch. He is extremely technical and knows how to teach the finer points of BJJ. Additionally, his facility is among the best you will see. I highly recommend learning from him. Wil Horneff

When I first came to this gym, I was a little nervous. I had never trained a martial art without knowing someone in the gym. What I came to find out about the Gracie’s, is that they run their business like a family. The upper belts worked with me right away, showing me the technique of shrimping and simple positions. Professor Ulpiano, rolled with me and even let me apply a choke for the fun of it (I have seen him role with most new students, and it makes all the difference). Everyone, from white to black belt, was exceptionally kind and excited to be part of Gracie Barra. Today, Gracie Barra Brazilian Jui Jitsu has changed my life. Jui Jitsu has given me the confidence I needed at work, a healthy continuation of my lifestyle, and the mindset to make the right decision to avoid unnecessary violence. Thank you Professor Ulpiano, and all the others at the gym for the mentoring. I look forward to continuing the journey!

This is the best place in town to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. All of the instructors are very helpful and will work with you know matter what issues you have. These guys offer a great and convenient schedule and wonderful students to boot. Professor Malachias is without a doubt one of the best BJJ practitioners around, so don't worry about the quality of instruction. I'm officially addicted, so come try it out with us!

Went here for the first time this morning and i had to get my 2nds during the afternoon. The facility is absolutely wonderful! The instructor is totally world class and his croation blue belt helper is a killer! and the best part about it is is that these guys are the coolest, nicest, most down to earth people youll ever meet. The only thing ill warn someone about is that the some of white belts there are fairly new to bjj so they use muscle over technique! I definitely have plans on being a lifetime member!
