Good article by +SmartCompany about successful growth of Aussie online business The Infamous Gentleman from garage to online retailer. Some important takeaways for #smallbiz  who are just dabbling in digital:
- "Consumers worldwide have truly embraced online retail and small businesses realise it’s time to be in the game or fall behind"
- "Savvy Australian enterprises who think “digital first” lead the way, showing other companies how it’s done"

A productive night at Regional Development Australia's iLoddonMallee 'Inspiring Digital Communities' workshop, with a decent cross-section of the community there to discuss how to leverage digital technologies to support the long-term prosperity of the region.

Would be great to see some of the ideas become a reality.

Thanks to Amanda and Steve at the Swan Hill Rural City Council for making it happen. #nbn   #digital   #SwanHill

To be successful a social media strategy should regularly produce and share interesting, relevant content that customers will find valuable, which will result in increased credibility and preference for your business.

Here's our latest blog post for a real estate client which we hope ticks all the right boxes. #digitalmarketing   #socialmedia   #blogging   #contentmarketing   #realestate   #realestateaustralia

Interesting research coming out of the US finds eight in 10 small business owners who market to millennials (gen Y born between early 1980s and early 2000s) see positive results, with ‪#‎socialmedia‬ (Facebook) far and away the most popular channel used to reach millennials.

Marketing to millennials required different advertising media/tactics and content (such as advertising copy or voice) as well as more personalization and engagement, according to the findings.

As if we’re not already connected 24/7 to social media (and looking at our smartphones instead of the person in front of us), Tuesday 30 June marks Social Media Day, an event started in 2010 to celebrate social media's impact on global communication.

When we discuss digital with business leaders, many are convinced that they should be on social media, but few can recall the reasons why, or how it contributes to a company’s growth and long term business success.

At Digital54, we help businesses concretely understand how social media, the web, content, email and mobile can be seamlessly combined into a coherent strategy to contribute to the bottom line. Get in touch if you’d like to know more.

"There are strong similarities between regional #China and regional Australia and our businesses should prioritise developing relationships and export opportunities there, particularly Western China which is growing faster than the mature Eastern China market" was one of the key messages to come out of the Growing Business Opportunities with China - Swan Hill Forum on Thursday, hosted by the +Australia China Business Council (ACBC) Victorian Division and Regional Development Victoria. More than 40 attendees, including Peter Walsh MP, heard from 4 exceptionally knowledgeable speakers and learned that it is a challenge to do business in China but that there are more 'ups than downs' and the Chinese people have a lot of heart and integrity. Relationships can take a long time to develop but are very highly valued by the Chinese, who also equate 'Made in Australia' with high quality. Welcomed by Scott Williams from ACBC, speakers included Campbell Jeffery from The Burchett Group, Mark Coleman from +ICAL International Customs & Logistics, Jeremy Loeliger from +Holding Redlich and a local testimonial from George Dajczer from +Andrew Peace Wines . +ABC Rural +Swan Hill Incorporated  #rural   #export   #china   #FTA

New on our blog: Kevin Spacey's advice to businesses seeking to connect and engage with their customers online through content. Unsurprisingly, conflict features in his strategy. ‪#‎contentmarketing‬ ‪#‎socialmedia‬
