When you block someone because they don't agree with you hard enough and don't let your friends heap ad hominems on them with impunity, you're not smarter than the thugs you rail against. You're just too insecure in your moral superiority to allow anyone to voice a differing (not even necessarily disagreeing) opinion.

See you around, +Valkyrie (whom I can't even tag anymore). I'd say it was fun but really it was just disheartening and disillusioning (is that a word?) to witness your echo chamber of impotent rage.

It's a trap! Let's be clear, Trump's chatter about a 'decayed military' is hogwash. When Obama entered office, ZERO major US Army, Marine or reserves units were "fully combat ready." When he left office, 100% of them were FCR. Hence, there is no "crisis." The proposed $54 Billion increase in Defense spending has other purposes:

1- It lets DT declare to be "necessary" slashing cuts in agencies like the EPA.

2- It provides cover for a planned Erdogan-style purge of the US Officer Corps... letting him proclaim "See? I love the military! See what I'm spending? These guys are the dead wood!" No, they are among the smartest and most grownup US citizens and they stand in your way.

3- It will provide opportunities for heaps of graft, as normal procurement laws are canceled under an "emergency" rules, exactly as the Bushites and their friends did, hauling in billions from the Iraq Wars.

4- It will lure foolish leftists into raging against the military, thus preventing the one thing that the murdochians fear most -- an alliance of ALL educated, fact-using clades, in which long hairs and crewcuts unite to defend America against idiocratic madness. A big tent Democratic Party that welcomes retired colonels as the perfect candidates to send into Red counties. An alliance of pink cats and blue dogs that could end this civl war! But imbecilic fools will react out of reflex, rejecting this sure-fire way to win.

I'll just leave this here, since +Valkyrie doesn't allow comments (not mine anyway).

Two big points here:

1. I have no problem with prison labor per se. These are people who are serving no useful purpose and are a steady drain on the economy. Let a farm hire them as contract labor and pay the prison instead of the inmates. But they still need to count as employees, people and taxpayers for every legal purpose.

2. Article is not backed up by verifiable facts. Sources are other fringe news sites which also have no proper citation to verifiable data. You can't cite a news article as evidence per se; you need to cite the original sources.

Uh... Actually it's illegal because it's somehow related (in the public mind, not actually I think) to hemp, which makes better rope than... I forget. And because it's waaaaaaaaaay easier to grow than tobacco. Big Pharma actually has very little to do with it. It is a political lobbying issue, just not that lobby.
