Disney’s ‘Tomorrowland’ Starts Filming, Plot Points Revealed

Filming has only just begun up in my northern neighbor of Vancouver, B.C., but Disney’s ‘Tomorrowland‘ is already on the schedule as my “Birthday Movie” 2014. (Past Birthday Movie honors have gone to ‘TRON: Legacy‘ and ‘Monster’s Inc. 3-D‘ and this year it will be ‘Frozen‘ which I’m also super-excited for, but I digress).
George Clooney will star (I mean, how can you go wrong?) as well as Britt Robertson, Judy Greer, and Hugh Laurie. Brad Bird is directing the film (‘The Incredibles’, ‘Up’, and ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ are just some of the other movies he’s directed, so again… you cannot go wrong!) and a whole lot of other cool people are working on this so, yeah, to say I’m looking forward to this is an understatement.

Artist Spotlight: Joey Chou

I first became aware of Joey Chou while visiting the Wonderground Gallery in Downtown Disney, Disneyland. At first glance his paintings seem so beautifully simple, with bold blocks of colors and graphic shapes. But, looking closer you see the depth within each color block and background, as he uses layers and transparencies so expertly. Another element I love is his use of small dots to give texture, as well as suggest sparkly surfaces (see Jasmin’s billowy pants!) and Disney magic.

Limited edition Haunted Mansion ‘Hatbox Ghost’ shirt, and more

Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion, (the original, and still the best, I say!), opened in 1969. However, before it was open to the public, the Imagineers had planned a very cool character for the Attic room: The Hatbox Ghost. The effects (his head disappearing and reappearing in the hatbox he held) didn’t quite work out, so he was promptly removed from the attraction, but he is still dearly remembered. My journey to D23 Expo 2015 starts here.

Save the date: Anaheim, August 14–16, 2015.

We are doing it! The D23 Expo 2015 (my first ever) will be the biggest highlight of my decade, and I cannot wait! Tickets go on sale beginning August 14, 2014, so they really want you to think ahead. Of course we’ll be planning our Disneyland vacation around the Expo, so we are going to pack as big a Disney punch as we can.

New Walt Disney Studios Movie, Moana, Announced

On the heels of ‘Frozen’ (which I absolutely adored) Disney has announced a new feature-length movie entitled ‘Moana‘ and has released a little concept art and logo with which to tease us.

My top 8 favorite Disneyland products available at the Disney Store online

It used to be that the best merchandise was only available inside Disneyland. It’s true that there are many shirts, hats, and toys that you can only get at the Parks… but sometimes, when I’m doing some California dreaming, I’ll go to the Disney Store online and type Disneyland into the search bar. There are so many cool, authentic products you can get delivered right to your door! Here are my top 8 favorite products having to do with Disneyland. New Disneyland 4-D Puzzle looks super detailed and incredibly fun

Via the Disney Parks Blog (http://bit.ly/13V79A2), I learned about a new product that I simply must have. Now.

The new Disneyland 4-D Puzzle is a 750-piece puzzle that includes 50, detailed buildings that snap in place. I can just imagine my family putting this together, and then recreating some of our best days in the park: “Remember, first we went over the Splash Mountain and got our fast-pass. Then, we hit Haunted Mansion, and then Pirates of the Carribean!” And, on and on…
