Markets have had a good day today with both indices up about half a percent. Nifty pushed past the 8300 mark for the first time in ten months. The Sensex closed at 27144.91 up 145.19 0.54% with 18 stocks rising and the Nifty at 8328.35 up 40.60 0.49% with 33 stocks rising. ONGC, BHEL, L&T, GAIL and Dr Reddy's were top gainers while TCS, Coal India, Adani Ports and HDFC were losers. Mid caps shot up by over 1%. Mahanagar Gas is listed on the exchanges at Rs 540 per share, up 28 percent from its issue price of Rs 421 per share.

Markets ended higher on June F&O expiry day. India continues to be a part of the global rally, says Dilip Bhat of Prabhudas Liladhar. Even without adequate foreign investor support, buying and short covering was seen from domestic investors.
The Sensex closed at 26999.72 up 259.33 0.97% with 28 stocks rising and the Nifty at 8288.85 up 84.85 1.03% with 46 stocks rising. Dr Reddy, NTPC, Axis Bank, and the Tata twins were the major gainers while Sun Pharma and Infosys were the only two laggards. While Small caps performed in line with the benchmarks, the mid caps index gained 1.26% thereby outperforming the benchmark indices.

Markets have opened on June F&O expiry day on back of strong global cues. The US & FTSE rallied retracing th elosses made after Brexit. There are no stocks in the red on BSE at the time of writing. Index heavy weights such as Hindustan Unilver, ICICI Bank, SBI, NTPC & Dr Reddy are all up 1.4-1.7%. Broader markets are also up. The Indian rupee opened higher by 13 paise at 67.55 per dollar on Thursday versus 67.68 Wednesday.

Markets have ended with gains ahead of the F&O expiry. The Sensex closed at 26740.39 up 215.84 0.81% with 24 stocks rising and the Nifty at 8204.00 up 76.15 0.94% with 43 stocks rising. Hero MotoCorp, NTPC, Wipro, BHEL and GAIL were top gainers while Lupin, Coal India, ITC, Bharti Airtel, and Adani Ports were losers in the Sensex. Mid caps rose by a percent and small caps rose by more than that.

Markets opened higher as expected taking cues from global markets. Auto stocks are major gainers with Tata Motors, Maruti and Hero Motocorp all trading up. HDFC Bank, Coal India, GAIL, HUL are on loser side. Among sectors Realty and Auto are trading higher. Indian rupee opened higher by 17 paise at 67.78 per dollar versus previous close 67.95. The pound was little changed at USD 1.33 versus the dollar after gaining 0.9 percent last session, halting a two-day selloff.
