The main yard at the entrance (that you not pay) is prepared + decorated with flowers. All the other yards that you will see after payment are pretty poor and not cared about.

. Unmissable! Just fabulous. Like Topsy, this palace just growed and growed. It started off as an aristocratic house, owned in the 15th Century by Don Gome. By marriage, inheritance, purchase and doubtless some wheeling and dealing, the family acquired adjoining houses and land until it became its current size. The palace overall has been in the same family - passing to sons, to wives, to nephews, from the 15th century until 1980, when the widow of the last owner, then aged 80, put it up for sale. There was local disquiet, as it was felt to be an important part of local history, and so the charitable foundation of the local Savings Bank, CajaSur , stepped in to buy it, restore and maintain it, and open it to the public. The citizens of Cordoba visited it for the first time in the 1980's therefore. Except for those who had been maids, cooks, gardeners, footmen, washerwomen, bootboys and all the other downstairs staff needed to run the palace. You can visit the house, which we chose not to do, as we were not too keen on room after room of furniture. We visited the 12 patios and a garden. Unmissable. .

Michelin #2 site in Cordoba (2 stars), saying: "This palace was extended on several occasions between the 14C and the 19C, which gives you an idea of the changes in civil architecture in Córdoba during this period. This unique and surprising complex of buildings covers an area of about 6 500m2, mostly taken up twelve magnificent patios and a garden. Admire the palace's beautiful interior, in particular the Salón de los Sentidos, decorate in mother-of-pearl, and a collection of embossed Cordoban leather (15C-19C)."

We did the tour of the house as well as the patios. The house is amazing and has some wonderful antiques and pieces of furniture inside. Note that the house tour is only given in Spanish (at least it was at the time of this review 9th June 2016) with a pamphlet of the English translation. The patios at the Palacio are some of the nicest we saw in Cordoba and are free to enter - you only pay to see the house but this has to be via guided tour. The walk to the Palacio also takes you through some different areas of the city which can be a nice change depending upon where you are based.
