Because I have people in my life who I care about who have trans histories, I think it's important for everyone to know a few things... And to challenge people to respect everyone - PERIOD.

Do not donate to the Salvation Army.

Their discriminatory policies have already lead to the death of one transwoman who was thrown out of a shelter and froze to death, and they still refuse to change.

If you donate to the Salvation Army, you are supporting systematic rights violations.

“There comes a point when you just love someone. Not because they’re good, or bad, or anything really. You just love them. It doesn’t mean you’ll be together forever. It doesn’t mean you won’t hurt each other. It just means you love them. Sometimes in spite of who they are, and sometimes because of who they are. And you know that they love you, sometimes because of who you are, and sometimes in spite of it.”

About half-way done with my first short story/fairy tale ever. I have the plot, the characters, and the main plot points written... just filling in the back story and some additional neither-here-nor-there bits. I'm particularly proud of it, too!!

Hey, +Aaron Howell , would you be interested in reading this story? It's less than 1,100 words... But I'm not big on dialogue...

Anyone in Portland need a new place to live?

Hey there ladies and gents! We're looking to expand our wonderful household! The room is great; it's $500 per month for everything, all utilities included - including WiFi!! The house is 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, right next to Alberta and Mississippi Ave's, hardwood floors throughout. The yard is paradise (like the secret garden), with a huge garden space, a large patio, and a big brick fireplace. Politically, we are left, supportive of endeavors such as transgender rights and equality, healthcare equality, the mental health field, and the homeless.

We are: me (homeowner), 28, queer girl, vegetarian, nanny and full-time student at PSU, easy-going, artsy, good cook (especially when it comes it cheese), frequent wine and beer lover, known for my all night Doctor Who marathons... Roommate 1: 29, lesbian, works in the mental health field, fun, easy-going, friendly as all get out. . . Roommate 2: Straight, in school, super awesome and low-key. We're all friends/friendly/laid-back/chill sorts of gals.

Sorry, due to sharing bathrooms, we are not open to (straight) men.

We also house 4 sweet boy cats in the main part of the house - 3 are polydactyl mutants and all of them are total lovers (also, all are indoor only)! You get all the benefits of living with rad and sweet housecats without having to deal with any of their stuff! (We also have two other odd pets in tanks -- a baby snake and an aged tarantula). Sorry, due to our current pet load, we are not open to more animals.

Aside from drinking, we aren't all that into intoxicants - save the occasional OUTDOOR smokage (tobacco, whathaveyou). We like our WiFi and have Netflix/hulu on the TV - though the tube is not a centerpiece by any means... it's on when someone or another needs to space out a little, or have a cuddle date. We have a house computer too, though it's ancient and pretty much used as a huuuuuge paperweight. We also have a few card and board games. And we share meals sometimes (not mandatory, but fun), and watch movies together (same deal). If you're up for the challenge, we'll teach you to play cribbage, set, and bananagrams (we may even let you win)

One block from the bus (44 and 72), minutes to max. Very mellow, quiet, sorta tidy (only sorta - this isn't the house for anal neat freaks)... Washer and dryer are in the basement. Rent includes basic house supplies (t/p, paper towels, cleaning supplies, ketchup, etc) and all utilities - ADDED BONUS: we also have a monthly house cleaner, so you don't have to scrub toilets!!! .

The room is on the main floor, approx 12 x 10, with two big garden-view windows. It has hardwoods, a closet (duh), lilac walls, and a unicorn switch plate cover.

The house is located in NE/N, by PCC Cascade, about a 10 min drive, 15 min bike ride, or 20 min bus ride to downtown. Walking distance to coffee shops, bars, a library, a post office, restaurants, and last Thursday. Deposit is $250.

Key words: gay, lesbian, bi, bisexual, trans, transgender, queer, genderqueer, fanfuckingtastic.
