I've had really really terrible service here, and friends who worked here years ago and said management was terrible. However the food has always been delicious and the desserts especially are terrific. A great place to go if you're staying at one of the hotels in the area.

Finale. This is your dessert destination hence the name. I am a big fan of this place not because of the cool dessert bar and hip after dinner crowd but for the quality of the actual dessert. I typically judge a dessert not on it's quantity but of course on the quality... well who do I quantify that you ask? Well when I take a bite of a dessert, it is so rich and SO satisfying that I almost don't need another bite! The explosion of flavor is so key. Yes, its high calorie and super fattening but hey life is short, EAT FINALE. If you're worried about your weight, just read my Boston gym reviews, the Flourless chocolate cake will burn off in no time! Tip: You're alone...no date on a Saturday night... go get yourself the mini flourless chocolate cake. Take it home put it in the microwave for 15 seconds (16 and it might explode!)....oh my.... who needs a date!

There are only four sweets that I think are worth the sugar and calories: carrot cake, cheesecake, chocolate-covered salt caramels, and mochi. The carrot cake at this place was the best I've had, anywhere, anytime, in any universe, under any circumstance.

This is a popular place for dessert because they're open pretty late and you can come just to get desserts and drinks. But honestly, the desserts are pretty overpriced. They're good desserts but nothing too special compared to what you can get at other restaurants. It's a quiet place that makes it good for conversation for a date or between friends, but if you're looking for really good desserts, go elsewhere.

There are oh so many different dessert places and bakeries in Boston, so why did I choose Finale? First off, it's an actual sit-down place with all of the class of a five-star restaurant, and that's just the atmosphere. The food is spectacular. I went with my family one night after a birthday dinner (we were lucky to get a reservation!) and we tried what seemed like one of everything. My favorite plate was the Molten Chocolate, because who doesn't love a chocolate lava cake? Often times at other restaurants, the cake part of a molten chocolate cake tastes spongy or the thing just collapses with the first touch of a fork, but this one is not like that. This Molten Chocolate cake is rich and the chocolate sauce inside is divine; it spills gently out of the cake, but it doesn't collapse the whole dish. I eagerly await my next trip to Finale--it's truly the best dessert restaurant in town (yep, better than that "other one" on Boylston). Finale is definitely worth a visit; there's a reason that people make reservations weeks in advance!

I've upped this to an additional star this time because I was there earlier today for a friend's birthday. We ordered the Creme Brulee, along with a traditional Hot Chocolate and a After Eight Toddie. I love the creme brulee this time more than the ones I've had before. the topped was fired longer and has a more crystalized sheet which i love because it cracks under my chewing. :) The reason for the extra star really is because we had Luis as a server and he was awesome! And although we were done with our stuff, he not once came over to rush her by presenting the bill. He saw my friend and I were having conversation. He made eye contact and just kinda went with the flow of what was going on with other guests. I think he made really great judgement call. He went around and check on the guests frequently. He was very cordial and made recommendations on dishes as asked. Very professional and pleasant.
