Thanks, +Real Racing, for inspiring me to change up the paint job on my Focus... I wasn't happy with it anyway. :) #StPat

Finally, finally, finally....I am able to post my MarioPaint cartoon online for the world to see.....over twenty years after it was released.

It hasn't aged well, but the work isn't bad for a 15-year-old.

Remember to read the video description to get some behind-the-scenes information about the cartoon.

Buy Into Free-To-Play Games!
I can't say it any other way: I like free-to-play games. I think F2P games are great. Not only does it provide an escape from the "AAA game" cycle for both developers and gamers alike, but the games are actually good. Or great. Maybe excellent, even. But, I...

I had written a lengthy blog relating to this very issue a few years ago. I had actually started writing it in the midst of the whole Guitar Hero/Rock Band/Rock Revolution mess but only managed to finish my piece a couple of years after in 2012, so some ideas might be a bit out of date.

http://marcness-2m4t.blogspot.com/2012/03/end-of-gaming-world.html

Though many people would disagree with me that the Magnovox Odyssey era of the late 70's ended in a crash, I argue that what happened then reinforces the concept of "loss of consumer confidence" you explain precisely and concisely (unlike me). I also failed to mention the importance of the consumers' power to drive the industry, so it's great that you point that out. But, overall, I do agree that another big crash is imminent if things don't change soon. I also agree with you that gaming itself is not going to disappear. I would like to make a distinction, though: gaming will live on, but the multi-billion-dollar industry will collapse, just like any other bubble economy. The end of my blog explains that gaming will live on beneath the rubble of the collapsed industry. Those passionate enough to keep it alive with their own hands will keep gaming strong. That's how gaming survived the Crash of '83.

I look forward to a crash to shed the cruft. I feel that the indie market and the user-friendly tools that help the average joe make games will keep the interest in making games while the industy burns to the ground. Like I said, videogames survived the crash of '83 because people were making games themselves.

The second episode of Target is up! Sorry for the terrible quality, but I'm glad SOMETHING was preserved! Hopefully I have another copy of this....if I do, I hope I didn't throw it out!

Babe Ruth was awesome. Actually, I like quite a bit of them, though later n they started getting silly.

I've reiterated my thoughts about F2P gaming here incessantly, and I think I finally wrote a blog that sums it all up without being so butt-hurt and inflammatory about how more people aren't joining me in F2P gaming.

A good game is a good game, no matter how much it costs!

An Old Gamer's Dilemma
I've been thinking of getting rid of my old systems for many many moons now, but I've been perpetually caught in a swirl of conflicting issues. I grew up with the idea of never selling my games, but over the years, the strength of this notion has waned. Whe...

What the hell? There's no shame in not playing a game on the day of release, even if you DO work in game journalism!
