Greedy speculators aren't the bane of human existence, but improve and sustain it. Every investment, every funding of any endeavor to create wealth (which detractors of economic reality need to seize and redistribute to maintain their delusion) poses risks and rewards, and require speculators to drive it.

E-mails from 2009 through 2011 pertaining to IRS targeting of conservative non-profit organizations. "The agency blamed a computer crash for the mishap."

Were that the preservation of official documents of a bureau of the executive branch were held in sufficient importance to invest in
backup software.

The credulity to think that this scandal stems from the bias and malice of a few bad apples, rather than systemic unlawful conduct, is way, way past its expiration date.
The IRS has told Congress that it has lost some of former employee Lois G. Lerner’s emails, including some covering communications with Democrats in Congress and with other parts of the government, the House’s top tax-law writer said Friday.

'Evil cannot be combated by offering counter-statistics, as many conservatives are doing. No one is concerned with the statistics, only with the moral narrative. And the book's opening epigraph gives us that: "Social distinctions can be based only on common utility." In quiet, understated language, that statement lays down the formula for total collectivism.'

"It takes a lot of gall for the left to advocate forcing people to buy government-approved health insurance plans, to virtually ban smoking, to beg the government to tell us what foods we’re allowed to eat and what beverages were allowed to drink – and then to lecture conservatives on not sticking their noses in others’ business."
A friend of mine recently passed along this story from the satirical newspaper The Onion, which echoes a bunch of other stories (justly) poking fun at conservatives who are up in arms about the way poor people are spending their money.

We're excited to announce the new publication of a lost Ayn Rand novel. Ayn Rand’s work Ideal, written in 1934, is scheduled for release by Penguin Random House in July of 2015 and will be paired with Rand’s play of the same name into a single volume.

At OCON 2014, Leonard Peikoff will field questions about the book, its ideas and the history of this important new publication: http://bit.ly/OCON2014

"Yes, the modern left is so ideologically bankrupt that its representatives will blame a mass murder—even one perpetrated by an explicit and thoroughgoing collectivist—on individualism, and call for more collectivism as the 'solution' to the problem."

RooseveltCare is a forthcoming book from Don Watkins, co-author of Free Market Revolution.

'This is not another book for policy wonks about the financial trouble Social Security is in. This is the story of the role that Social Security and the entitlement state have played in eroding the eagerness, energy, and optimism that once defined this country.'
This is the introduction to my new book, which we’ll be releasing in early June. Stay tuned to this blog to learn how you can get your hands on it and help us promote it.

'Even in [pluralistic] societies, high schools probably have a significant ability to move students toward what they consider “a correct worldview, a correct view on life, and a correct value system.” That’s an opportunity, to be sure, but it is also a warning.'

Progressivists hold the notion that they have a claim on our minds, and fully intend to cash in. Caveat civis.
(abcnewsradioonline.com) There’s a reason some have called former White House official Cass Sunstein “the most dangerous man in America.” Consider his recent Bloomberg column, titled “Open Brain, Insert Ideology:” Suppose that an authoritarian government decides to embark on a program of curricular reform, with the explicit goal of indoctrinating the nation’s high school students. Suppose…
