The tale behind the Trøllkonufingur
.
Trøllkonufingur roughly translating to the Witch's Finger is a 313 meter high monolith just in front of the Faroese shore. If you were to believe the local folklore you're looking at finger of a witch who tried to throw the Faroe Islands over to Iceland. Her attempt was foiled by the rising sun who turned her to stone. The witch sank to the ocean floor only her rocky index finger reminds of her dark intentions. 📷 @megancstarr

Quirky.Mythical. Magical. How would you describe the Faroe Islands in 3 words only?

HIDING SPOTS
Sharing a photo of a beloved hiding spot is probably never a good idea. Luckily, the Faroe Islands are riddled with secret coastal gems to escape to. We won't share the location of this one, instead we'd like to encourage you to find your own hideaway. It's much more fun, we promise!
Thanks @megancstarr for sharing this lovely gem with us!

Here's a secret dark tourism destination you should 100% add to your bucket list. Svalbard boasts with abandoned whaling stations, deserted Russian mining towns and some gruesome tales of survival to go with it. 🍂 THE EVE OF RUSKA
This is a little throwback to September in the Ivalo region which travel specialist Elin explored last September. September in most countries (in the northern hemisphere) feels a little like the Sunday of summer, in Northern Scandinavia however, it's autumn coming to its full bloom. Trees feature an ever-changing a ray of oranges, yellows and dark reds and blueberries, lingonberries and mushrooms are waiting to be picked (and devoured!) . A highlight to many is the return of the Aurora Borealis in late August. Deserving of a more inspiring name than autumn this unique season is referred to as ruska-we can't wait to experience it once more.
