The last verses are from "from Dream Sequins" with the brilliant Steven McCabe, Lyrical Myrical Press.
All Things Considered
On the shelf inside the storm,
an empty pitcher of light awaits
sage and summer savory... Now.
At the turning of the year after nadir
of deepest darkness, the small Moon
of Long Night turns to beam ....
Come and say hello, women. The veils are still
thin and we welcome your presence, fourteen
plus all the disappeared whom you stand for.
As if you were in the prime of life now. As if
your daughters bloomed full-grown around you.
As if your mothers were crying delighted tears...

"Poetry as performance works because it is primarily aural, true to its origins around a Neolithic fire." Sound Opera is a new form Penn developed in performance and recording in a desire to lift poetry off the page to the stage. "Sound Opera is based on text but it expands poetic possibilities to include voice, music and computer manipulation to express narrative when emotions burst the seams of print."
