"Kids are supposed to worry about school and friends, sports and hobbies, not cancer. Although we weren’t oblivious to the tragedies all around us and the world, we didn’t think it would happen to us. That’s what is so deceptive about cancer — no one ever thinks it will happen to them, until it does." - Rebecca, mom to TyAnn, Sarcoma Foundation of America Wednesday Warrior

My daughter was 13 years old and ready to start her new school year as a 9th grader. She was having pain and swelling in her jaw and cheek but the dentist said she had an infected tooth and an oral surgeon said she needed a wisdom tooth removed. We gave her antibiotics and scheduled the tooth ...

Hello, my name is Colette and I'm 44 years old. In 2008, I noticed an awful pain in my right upper thigh. For the longest time I thought it was a pocket of fat that was causing it. LOL! I was gaining weight, so I figured it had to be that. Cancer was the furthest thing from my mind.

In the summer of 1999, my brother Danny had pain in his arm and was unable to straighten it all the way. He was then 14 years old. My parents took him to an orthopedic doctor who diagnosed him with tendonitis. Since my brother played the drums, we assumed it came from that.

Malakai, a.k.a. Kai, was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma, a very rare cancer on November 10 — just five days before his first birthday. At 4 months we noticed that every time we touched the bottom of his left foot he would start to cry. At that time their wasn't a noticeable bump until 6 months.
